This is so cute. Thank You so much for making it for me. =) It matches the two dresses really well, & is cute. Seller was nice, & helpful. We both had forgot I asked about this awhile back, until I suddenly remembered it a little bit ago, then messaged about it, & she got back to me quickly then. =) Will recommend, & probably come back to this shop, if I need something else.

About

Creation is my life!

I live in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of upstate NY where I daily enjoy the loveliness of Keuka Lake. This area is home to a lot of artists, winemakers, and entrepreneurs. I think the beauty of the area is inspiring and the atmosphere is peaceful and spiritual which brings out my creativity. My family and I moved to this location in the summer of 2013 from the eastern edge of the greater Rochester region, where I grew up. We have a large house built in 1880 with room for my crafting and so much more.

I grew up in a creative family going back 4 generations. Art was my favorite subject in school. I learned to knit & embroider at 9, sew at 11, and took arts & crafts classes in high school. I don't think I could ever stop creating! I've made clothing, dried flower wreaths, macrame, crocheted items, stuffed animals, origami, all kinds of Christmas tree ornaments, pottery, doll clothes & dolls, quilts, woven baskets, counted cross stitch, knitting, jewelry, & hand painted crafts, I bake & cook and created beautiful flower beds. (I've also made 4 children!!! How's that for real creativity?) But I didn't start selling my creations until 2011 when I got on a roll making sock monkeys and other animals from felted sweaters.

My shop is at the upstairs farthest back area of the house in a room 3 steps down from the rest of the second story which gives it a private and separate-from-the-family feel. It's wonderful having my own work space! My workroom is a reflection of me: packed full of all the things for great ideas. It's also pretty & pink, & shows off many of my favorite things. Many projects can be rather messy to make or take time & space, so it's much better to have a separate space for creating!

I work better when I feel inspired. I really enjoy babies & children which is partly why I enjoy making toys, clothes, & care items for them. I am also dedicated to the creation of quality toys that last. And I feel it's important to help mothers feel beautiful and valued which is the inspiration behind making jewelry. I like to make things I haven't made before and I really enjoy designing the project, choosing the materials for them, and watching as they come to completion. I also love to work with color, I love to create my own designs, and sometimes my creations are built around a certain item, such as a bead or fabric, I have discovered and love.

Since 2000 I've been working in the birthing field as a doula (professional labor coach) and lactation counselor. It has been very rewarding work! Adding a little money making to my crafting hobby is another way to do something I love. After my family and I moved to our home in the Finger Lakes I began to think more about really trying to make a go of selling my wares. I thought Etsy seemed like a good place to reach more people. I read an article in Country Living magazine about a young mom who began to make toys & started a nice business. I was inspired! I had some items left from craft shows I went to before the move and I decided to give it a whirl.

I use the best quality items I can find for the cost. I look for variety and "something different" in my materials. I want my items to be unique. I try to use materials I can recycle into new items or use up left overs from other projects. I want people to feel that they get a great value for the quality, that they found something beautiful, beautifully made, and that is an affordable treasure.

Going green is something I believe in and try hard to incorporate into many areas of my family's life. It comes pretty naturally having had grandparents who lived through the great depression who taught me not to waste, President Carter's efforts during the "energy crisis" impressed me at a young age, community recycling came to my area when I was a young adult, and now the green movement has come. I think it's exciting to be able to take something old & unwanted, not useful anymore in it's original state, and turn it into some thing new & pretty & useful again. From diapers to jewelry, toys to housewares, I try to bring old items back to new use.

All my items ship in 1-2 days. Almost without fail my items are actually available and not waiting to be made. I do accept custom orders and welcome them as a way to make something for a specific person- that’s the most rewarding on my end.

I sell at small local (Fingerlakes, NY) craft shows and here on Etsy. Since I am still raising children handling a traveling circuit of shows a great distance from home is impractical. However, you can always find Blossom's Beauties on Facebook or on Twitter.

And now you know my story! Thanks for reading!

Hello and Welcome to my Etsy store. Here you will find only hand made items made by myself. I've been sewing and knitting since I was a child and I love making things for babies and children. I have 4 children and everything I make I would feel comfortable giving to or using on my child. I believe in recycling and repurposing items that have finished with their first purpose. It's important to do what we can to keep our planet healthy. So combining these thoughts and abilities to create lovely things for young children is dear to my heart. I hope you feel you've found a real treasure when you purchase my items!

Refunds and Exchanges
I hope to please my customers with excellent merchandise which they will not want to return, I try to keep lighting good (natural light) for photos so the colors are true. And I try to be careful about sizing/measurements in my description. Please read carefully!

If you encounter a problem such as a delay in arrival or damaged packaging, please let me know. Tracking numbers are given with notification of shipment.

Returns/Refunds are given if an item is found to be defective upon arrival- such as a seam than has come out or item is broken. I package carefully and most items are unbreakable so there should be no problem with damage upon receipt.

Naturally, if a different item arrives than the one you ordered I will accept a return (I will pay the postage). I will refund your money or send the proper item, depending on what you want.

Custom orders cannot be returned unless they arrive damaged.

With the exception of damaged items and wrong item received, return postage is the responsibility of the buyer!

Please send me a message if you are unhappy with your purchase before leaving feedback or requesting a return.
Additional policies and FAQs
I do not offer a military discount. I do offer the occasional coupon code. And I do have a repeat customer discount.

I set the cost of my items to include the time it takes to make them which is calculated at less than a fast food worker makes per hour but takes more skill and talent. I add in the cost of materials and the fees associated with being here on Etsy, but there is no "retail" mark up. My items are one of a kind, made individually in a small at-home studio. I try to keep my costs reasonable and within reach of families who want a quality item but to also be respectful of my own time and talent. I hope you will understand that the value of the item is much more than the cost you pay.

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

If you see an item you like but you want one like it in another color or size please ask, I may be able to create it just for you. I love making special items for specific people!

Custom orders $20 or less require payment at time of order. Custom orders over $20 require 1/2 the fee upfront the remainder after the item is finished. I have had to implement this policy due to custom orders made upon request but never paid for.

I will try to give you a reasonable time frame for completion and let you know should there be an unexpected delay. Custom ordered items may not be returned.

Sizing details

I include measurements of all my items in the item description including all toys and blankets.
Clothing sizes will include age related sizes such as "6 months" as well as body measurements such as Chest 21", Waist 22", Height 24", etc. They will be in inches and American sizes.
Knit hats are stretchy and sizes are a close estimate by age only. If the baby has a large head, you want the next larger size.
For Doll clothes, measure your doll and compare to my notes and if still in doubt, send me a message.

Care instructions

All toys, clothes and baby care items will have washing instructions in the item description. I suggest you printing them from the description if you would like to be sure to remember them. Do this at the time your order. If you forget, send me a message, and I can send them to you.

Because most of what I make is aimed at babies and children, who do (let's admit it) get things gummy, drooly, spit-uppy, dirty, sticky, etc., I want them to be able to be washed, like any mother would. I don't want them to shrink or get ruined in the wash for you. Fabrics are prewashed in baby soap to reduce shrinkage. Unless otherwise stated yarns for children's items are the type that won't be ruined in the wash.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Gift Wrapping is available for a small fee of $1.99 which covers a bit if my time and a bit of the wrapping paper. A gift message can be included on a small decorative card- send me a message with the details. I have a variety of wraps for various occasions. See the gift wrap listing.

Packaging is made with recycled materials. Either manufactured from them, or recycled from clean boxes that come into my home and repurposed for mailing.

Items are very often placed in a plastic bag inside the box to prevent getting wet in shipping. The exception is bubble wrap envelopes which are already plastic lined.

Sharing of personal information

I will never give away nor ever sell your personal information such as your mailing address. You will not get mailings from me either. One small exception may be a gentle request for feedback on your purchase which will come through Etsy email.

I have no access to your payment information, your email address or phone number.

I can email you or contact you via your Etsy account but do not know your email address. I will only use this with questions related to a custom order, your regular order, or hoping for feedback/review.

No Junk Mail Ever!
