Announcement   Welcome to Blue Antiquities! I am now selling my jewelry locally at Adelaide's Vintage Home and Garden in Greensboro N.C. I have a new article coming out in Belle Armoire Jewelry March 1, called history Buff Cuffs! I hope you have a chance to see it! Visit your favorite bookstore to purchase this amazing Stampington publication!
This past summer I went through some challenging things in my personal life, my son went to the emergency room and a subsequent behavior health program, I moved and changed email addresses as a result of separating from a 25 year marriage. With that, I missed an Etsy order. Of note, I received negative feedback. The customer did receive her refund and her order plus extra goodies for my error. However I neglected to see the problem right away. I want you to be aware of this, as I had 100% positive feedback before this occurred.
I am back to teaching the Painting with Fire process in Greensboro, selling some supplies, and jewelry. Id like to welcome you here! Please visit my blog for more information on my workshops, jewelry and enameling.
www.Blueantiquities.blogspot.com

I am teaching group workshops at Shelf Life off battleground Rd, and I am also offering private workshops. Check my blog for dates and times of group workshops at Shelf Life. Email or message me here on Etsy if you are interested in a hands on workshop here in Greensboro.

Publications
Look for my work in Somerset Gallery Magazine in last summers issue. Belle Armoire Jewelry published my Time Passages article in the winter 2016 issue and Adorned with Words was published in the Dec 1 Belle Armoire Jewelry and includes a lot of information about decals. I hope you will take a look at that article. My Bachelor's Portrait Necklace was featured in JEWELRY AFFAIRE MAGAZINE in the summer issue. My jewelry enameling kits were featured in SOMERSET LIFE MAGAZINE this past summer, made for boot camp workshops, held at Ornamentea in Raleigh. My "Everyday Sayings" Text Beads were featured in STRINGING MAGAZINE Winter 2015. I am honored to be a part of these publications!

My inspiration comes from the past as I like to find the history behind things, and weave its story into my pieces, whether it be a photo, story, saying, poetry, or something that has the look and feel of times gone by. Look for the origins of "everyday sayings" in individual text bead listings. Parisian Flair components are inspired by vintage French typography and vintage advertisement images. The new Time Passages earring listings began as a thought of the vintage wallpaper seen peeling off walls (cared for in another time) in old homes across our nation, I see them when I visit estate sales. I often wonder, "what of our day will become the collectible item in 100 years? It will probably be something we would never think would be desirable... Something we discard, throw away, give away, put in our attics, and basements. Look for Time Passages earrings to be included among my jewelry listings.

I am thrilled to be the first certified teacher of Painting with Fire by Barbara Lewis, visiting her studio and shop in June 2012. I have taught many group workshops in Raleigh and Greensboro NC. Please send email or conversation here on Etsy to inquire about these workshops. BlueantiquitiesJewelry [!at] Gmail.com

I am honored to to be a contributor to Mastering Torch-Fired Enamel Jewelry by Barbara Lewis, published by Northlight Books! Thank you to Barbara Lewis for her invitation!

Item paid for but never shipped. Shop owner ignored request for refund or explanation of what might be going on. Had to work with Etsy to get my funds returned. Not a trustworthy site!

About

BlueAntiquities~Rustic~ Romantic~One-of-kind~Artisan Jewelry and Components

BlueAntiquities opened on Etsy in 2008 with humble beginnings...here's my story.

I have always been an artist, I studied interior design in college, however I didn't enjoy the sales end of the job after earning my Bachelor's degree. My own hearing loss prompted an interest in working with deaf children and I ended up at Central Institute for the Deaf in St. Louis. (an oral school) Soon after I was hired I learned the children didn't have art at all, which eventually led to my developing the art program for all of the age groups, and designing a new art room for the school. I loved everything about being an art teacher! The teaching, the kids, the deaf component. Each new year, the kids won my heart over as the year turned to fall, and winter set in. It was so rewarding that they could express themselves in my class through art, when the rest of the day, reading, writing, and the act talking alone were so difficult. I have fond memories of the children, and how they said my name!

Fast forward to 3 kids and a new city, when I stumbled upon jewelry making. I started with the basics, and found enameling through Barbara Lewis, when I saw her amazing filigree beads. She helped me purchase a torch, a written tutorial, and I was hooked.

My Etsy site began with simple beaded pieces and Scrabble tile necklaces, and miscellaneous jewelry. I spent a lot of time learning, taking workshops and classes, and honing my skills with enameling.

Today, I enjoy creating one-of-a-kind pieces with hand forged metals, and enameled components. I enjoy incorporating history into my work, and love using vintage materials, new-old stock, and giving my jewelry the look of age. Antiques and vintage things have always captured my attention, even as a kid. Being drawn to the past, I end up looking for the story behind things. I find myself on a journey learning new things about the past, it helps me see things about the future I never thought I would. I am fascinated with how the past has affected our life and times today, in so many ways we don't realize, or think about on a daily basis.

Most of my pieces are sold in consignment, please inquire within if you have something special I can create for you, or to carry my jewelry or components in your retail setting. I really love creating custom orders, please contact me if you have something special I can create for you. I will take it on if I can. Most of my jewelry here on Etsy is one-of-kind. I do create similar items, however most are unique, especially the enamel pieces, as with every firing, you get different results.

~Back to Teaching!~
I am currently teaching enameling classes, where I travel an hour plus to Raleigh, and teach at the amazing Ornamentea, jewelry and crafts store. Check them out online! I am back in my element once again, and I can say, that I so enjoy teaching, meeting fun people and showing them a new technique is right up my alley! I also teach private workshops at my home studio, please send me a message here on Etsy if you want more information. Ornamentea also offers private one-on-one and two-on-one workshops with me at their location in Raleigh if you have an interest in signing up for those. The shop has an amazing environment, staff, and of course the supplies and products can't be beat! These hands on workshops are a great way to get individualized attention and really bring your skill up a notch!

I am happy to offer my new "Everyday Sayings" Text Beads here on Etsy, I hope you like them, along with my enameled charms with French topography and various imagery. I have also introduced new Time Passages Earrings and Speak Easy Necklaces. Look for those on the shop page.

I am thankful to create in my backyard studio just 40 steps from my back door. Most of the time, my beautifully colored dog, Breyers is under foot in the studio, keeping me on my toes!

Visit my profile for more information about me, and visit my blog, for the heart behind BlueAntiquities. www.BlueAntiquities.Blogspot.com Thank you so much!

Welcome to Blue Antiquities! I am excited to work in an art and handmade forum such as ETSY.

Your jewelry will arrive on a double sided heavy weight patterned paper card, inside a clear bag, with crinkle paper and tied with yarn or ribbon. If you would like something different, please contact me, and I will try to accommodate your needs.

Jewelry is mailed in padded envelopes and wrapped carefully to arrive safely. I do recycle packaging whenever possible. If you do not want recycled packaging please leave a note in the message to seller section of your order.

My jewelry is ever evolving as I learn new techniques and work with new materials. I enjoy working with vintage findings, sterling silver, brass components, unique beads, handmade findings and torch fired enamel.
