When the sun is shining just right... here's the perfect mug for the occasion. sunny️ Sunny bunny will help you celebrate the sunshine!
Do you see signs of spring where you are? These sprout jars were made to bring spring inside. Here's another process shot, this time to show the unfired clay after the sprouts were attached; from here, the pieces were left to dry before the first firing.
Eagerly waiting for spring to get here already! Here's a shot of a couple ceramic seedling jars (inspired by spring) waiting to go through a final firing.

About

CERAMICS FOR LITTLE PEOPLE & BIG PEOPLE ALIKE

FRESH // FUN // EVERY DAY
I believe that our daily rituals should always include something beautiful and something fun. I also believe that the little people among us deserve the same. My humble goal is to inject a bit of beauty and fun into the objects that we use or see everyday. Everything you see at blue bean studio is a limited edition item, individually and carefully formed by my two hands.

// THE PATH, PROCESS & PHILOSOPHY //
Coming from a background in healthcare, my foray into ceramics was unexpected. A short stint overseas gave me the push I needed to explore my creative side. After getting my hands dirty in clay for the first time, there was no going back…

Every lump of clay is full of potential -- add to it a pinch of exploration and a few spoonfuls of patience, and something magical happens! Each piece starts off as soft clay, which is shaped by hand (with or without a wheel), fired in a kiln, painted and/or glazed, and fired again. The entire process generally takes two weeks or sometimes longer, depending on the technique used. I prefer to work in small batches so that I can constantly try out and play with different ideas in form and decoration. Because of their handmade nature and limited numbers, each piece is truly unique.

One important aspect of ceramics that appeals to me is that it can be personal, beautiful and functional all at the same time. I also love that the maker’s touch can be evident and uniquely expressed in each creation. When I first started, I was told to “leave perfection at the door"; I have since learned to embrace the value of the "maker's mark" and the authenticity of an imperfect yet aesthetically pleasing human-made form. Quirks and anomalies are what makes us unique... and awesome.

Beyond ceramics, I enjoy photography and graphics design, and am striving to integrate all of my creative interests into a body of work.

// THE PART WE PLAY //
From the very start of this creative endeavor, one of my values has been generosity. As such, 5% of the profit from each item goes to charity.
