About

Bored unless my hands are immersed in creating and experimenting!

Some of the earliest memories I have are from drawing little geometric patterns with all the magical colors I had in my crayon box. I saved each crayon, never using one too often. I sharpened them frequently, making sure I could use them to their full potential time after time. Shortly following, I began repairing my mother's jewelry. Somehow the woman was always getting her chains knotted, and while I'm convinced she gave them to me to fix to keep me busy, it was a great exercise for me in patience and all things tedious. It wasn't until I had made 10 or so pieces for my business Blue Eyed Squirrel that I realized, I had merged my childhood love of creating geometric patterns featuring bold colors with my love of jewelry.

I began Blue Eyed Squirrel after graduating from graduate school with an MFA in jewelry and metalsmithing. It is through Blue Eyed Squirrel that I began my long journey towards finding happiness in my work. I found I was placing too much pressure upon my work, which was stunting my growth as an artist. I finally took the plunge 2 years ago to make for the sake of making, to live my life in the moment, to passionately create and be inspired by others who live by similar mantras.

Each component in my work is handmade. I carefully dye the plastic I use in my jewelry. The form is dictated by the color I use, and the individual complexities found in the material. I cut each piece independently, often discarding components which seem unfinished. I facet each of these components, turning them into hand faceted gem like stones. There is a little nuance in each stone, subtleties which echo genuine gemstones. After heat treating these, I pair them with genuine gemstones, and other complementary plastic stones.

Each piece is truly unique, and one of a kind. I truly enjoy making these pieces. I hope you will like them as well!

In my spare time, I love spending time with my darling husband, and our two wacky cats. I enjoy gardening (weeds currently) in the ever sunny Los Angeles, and going to farmers markets to peruse the fruits of others' labor.

Thanks for stopping by!

I have always been a maker. Some of the earliest memories I have are of creating/fixing/designing. I was lucky enough to find a passion early on, which lead me to obtaining my BFA and MFA in Jewelry and Metalsmithing. Thanks for stopping by!
