Jewelry making tutorials on my website Basketofblue.com/blog
Jewelry inspired by the ocean and nature's wonders.
Blue Finn Studio is my small creative studio where I design jewelry and other accessories. My name is Mari Hanby and I grew up in Finland. In my late twenties an opportunity presented itself to come to New York and study design at Pratt Institute. I ended up staying in the New York area and worked in various companies as a web designer. I relocated to Philadelphia when I met my husband and while working as a UI/UX Designer got interested in designing jewelry. I started with simple beaded designs, creating jewelry for work friends and eventually got fascinated by metals like copper and bronze. A friend at work gave me a book about enameling and after that there was no turning back. Playing with fire was just the best fun!
I became fascinated by various materials, textures and surfaces. It seems to be an endless discovery. Holding something in your hand enables you to experience it in a totally different and profound way.
