5 out of 5 starsI love Ruth’s work and couldn’t resist buying several more of her pieces in her January sale. This one is gorgeous. Such a glossy black. Love the form and glaze. Always well packaged and promptly dispatched. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 starsThis is just what I was after, perfect to hold our normal size sponge and a sponge cloth to stop them lying in a puddle on a side. Really lovely to look at too. Very pleased.

5 out of 5 starsVery sweet. Was asked for a garlic pot for Christmas and I thought at first it would be disappointing present but this is lovely and I'm looking forward to giving it.
Looked exactly like the photos. -

5 out of 5 starsThis is such a gorgeous piece of ceramic art that’s also really functional. I love the colours and the texture of the form. It’s even better than I could have hoped. If you’re considering buying something from Blue Fox I would definitely say ‘go for it’. The quality is excellent and for a unique piece of art Ruth’s pieces are great value for money. This arrived in perfect condition due to the expert packaging. I know I’ll be back to add to my collection in the future.

5 out of 5 starsThis is such a glorious little bud vase. The colour is exactly what I wanted, though the pictures can’t do justice to how it glows in real life. I love the shapes and glazes Ruth creates. Lovely work and fantastic value. Arrived promptly in perfect condition thanks to the excellent packaging. Highly recommended.

About bluefoxceramicsuk
Handcrafted originals
I’ve been passionate about art & design my whole life. For as long as I can remember I have loved drawing or making things. After leaving school I went to Art college taking A levels in Art, Sculpture and Printmaking, and then went to the School of Jewellery at Birmingham University. However, I decided not to pursue jewellery making as a career (long story) and went on to other things.
I discovered my love of clay about 30 years ago, and have picked it up and put it down as life and the need to eat got in the way. Now I’ve found my way back to it and I am enjoying emmersing myself in this medium from my home studio set in Lancashire, England. With nature all around me, including deer, owls, bats foxes and lots of birds it would be hard not to be inspired by this amazing place only a short distance from a busy mill town.
I think clay is a fascinating medium to work in. I love to throw and handbuild – sometimes both on the same pot, often carving it. If what I make doesn’t work or meet the grade, I chuck it in a bucket of water and recycle it into a new piece.
Everything I make is handmade, I don’t slip cast. So if you do buy one of my pots you know it will be unique, and the only one like it in the world.
My carved pots take many hours to make. I start by throwing a small bowl shape pot (for the base), which is turned when leather hard and then hand rolled coils added to the desired shaped and height. Once the shape is ok I let the clay stiffen a bit more and then start carving. The majority of my pieces are hand painted with at least 2 different glazes using a technique called layering. Each layer will consist of at least 2 coats in order to get the depth of colour. Each one having to dry in between. It takes lots of time and experimenting to get the look you see.
My inspiration comes from many different sources around me such as nature and architecture, as well as past styles such as Celtic art and ancient Egypt.
