It's been quite a ride!
We're Chuck and Carolyn, lampworkers for more than 20 years....has it actually been that long?
Chuck: Grew up in western Nebraska, in the fields and prairies. Moved to the east coast briefly, then headed for Alaska, where there weren't so many people.
Bought a truck and drove from Boston to Fairbanks, with Smokey the cat in the back. (She settled down eventually)
Got his pilots license, bought a plane, met his wife, and acquired the most beautiful daughter in the whole world.
Carolyn: Born and raised in Alaska, almost born in an airplane as there was no doctor in Seldovia at the time. Grew up on a fishing boat, with salt water in her veins
and fish scales in her hair. Remembers the Good Friday earthquake and pipeline days in Anchorage, canning salmon and cutting wood for winter....wishes she could go home again, sometimes. Was working on her pilots license when she met Chuck, so they had much in common immediately....
Now they've come full circle to Nebraska, sunflowers and endless vistas, thunderstorms and tomatoes without a greenhouse. The most beautiful daughter in the world is growing up fast and making her own mark on the world.
The menagerie has grown---two llamas watch over an assortment of goats, a sheep, chickens and cats. The cats will go out to pasture with the goats, as do the chickens.
The face of Blue Heeler Glass at shows---leaf-maker extrordinaire, pilot, machinist, and father of the most beautiful daughter in the world..
Lover of sunflowers, beadmaker, cook, and mother of the most beautiful daughter in the world..
Author, dog trainer, shepherdess & dairymaid; illustrator, traditional artist, wire-wrapper, lamp-worker, and creator of super-mini jewelry sculptures in glass. Owner of the most beautiful dairy goats in the world....
Please be aware of this before you order, it really is as much time as we need.
If you overlooked the made to order aspect of our shop, we do accept cancellations within the first 48 hours of order placement--after that, no cancellations, sorry.
The reason: we place orders to our suppliers based on orders in process, so after the 48 hours, we may have ordered the supplies to fill your order.
If an item is OOAK, it will be clearly stated. If you purchase both OOAK and made-to-order on the same order, the items will all ship with the made-to-order items.
We do occasionally take a weekend day away from the computer, so if you've messaged us on a weekend, please understand that you may not hear back from us til the next business day.
Please contact us with any questions via convo, rather than email, that way there is a running record for both of us, as suggested by Etsy.
We'll generally make the orders as they come in, although we try to keep a set ahead on our most popular items, so there will be times we can mail your order sooner.
We don't accept custom orders, sorry!
As always, we properly kiln anneal all our lampwork, from flame to kiln, for heirloom longevity.
It's impossible to control how colors appear on different monitors--we photograph in daylight with flash, and edit for focus, but at the end of the day, glass will be glass. Please read the description and feel free to drop us a convo if you have any questions. We don't use a "professional" set up, while that does show the beads at their very best, very few of us wear jewelry under those lights.
On all the made to order items, the photos are stock, but please let us know in advance if you'd like a preview photo of your beads, we're happy to oblige.
we most often use 1/16 and 3/32 mandrels but most bead measurements are listed in mm, so we've added the following for your convenience.
The 1/16 mandrel converts to 1.58mm, with the bead release added the hole is approx. 1.8 to 2mm.
The 3/32" mandrel converts to 2.38mm, with the bead release the hole is right at 2.5mm.
The 1/8" mandrel converts to 3.17mm, with bead release the hole is about 3.30mm.

If you need to stay under a certain value for customs, please feel free to place individual orders based on your needs. We do ship all orders as placed, no splitting into smaller shipments after the fact, sorry!
