Long time coming...

First let me say thank you. Thank you for joining me on this adventure of opening up my own shop and sharing my work with the world. The Art Shop began as a vague idea in the summer of 2014 while I was working in Providence, RI. But I was in the middle of graduate school and rarely had enough time to paint, let alone run a shop. But I graduated from Syracuse in May '15 and in July '15 I moved to Burlington, Vermont for my first full time job at the University of Vermont. It's then that I finally made the time to set up shop.

The thing is I have been making things for quite some time. I was so fortunate that when I was young, the woman who looked after me was big into doing crafts with us and really that is where it all started. It started with those cheesy hand print turkeys at thanksgiving and making pinecone Christmas tree ornaments.

That passion has never left me. I was an honors art student in high school, I did a summer program at the Pennsylvania Academe of Fine Arts, one at the Moore College of Art and Design and at the Clay Studio in Philadelphia. Then came time to go to college and I ended up at Syracuse University in the School of Architecture. My favorite projects in college were always those that were hand drawn or hand crafted. I also used all my open electives to take studio art classes. So I have taken courses in painting, ceramics hand and wheel throwing, metal and jewelry work, printmaking, and woodshop furniture design. I refuse to use Microsoft Word to make 9 out of 10 documents, opting instead for Adobe InDesign and Illustrator. I believe in the philosophy that everything needs and deserves good design. I also believe that everyone is creative, people just need to find the right medium. While I have experimented in a whole slew of medium from digital to clay and wood, to paper, my favorites remain to be watercolor and ink.

My subject matter, which largely is influenced from my background in architecture, is urban landscapes and city architecture, but also includes travel drawings and nature landscapes. Occasionally, my work is also influenced by my own exploration of sexuality and gender.

Additional policies and FAQs
If you decide to commission a piece here’s how it works:

You may send me a conversation here through etsy or email [!at]
- Please include the photo you want translated to a painting. The higher the resolution the better – especially if you choose a bigger size.
-let me know if there are any special requests, for example to change some of the colors, or if you would like a heavier emphasis on the inked lines or no lines at all (just paint).

Here is a worksheet to help you figure out your price :

After the worksheet and photo have been received, and all details including due date and price, have been agreed upon, I will email you a Commission Invoice agreement that we both sign. At that time I can either set up a custom etsy listing or send a request via paypal. Half of the total is due upfront before any work begins.

here is a link to preview the Commission Invoice Agreement:

I draw out your work and keep you updated on it’s progress. That way you are able to make any small adjustments. It’s extremely important to me that I hear your feedback to make your piece reflect what you wanted.

And then Its ready! If you have a remaining balance, I will send another paypal request or set up another custom etsy listing. Once that is paid, I pack it very carefully and send it off along with an email notification, tracking number and a high res digital image.
