About

The Craft of Bindery, Paper, & Wood

Boarding School came to be over some wine and whiskey on a rainy March while my brother was visiting Seattle. I've been binding books ever since a summer abroad in Florence Italy, which sparked a love for travel and writing. Erik, a cabinetmaker in Maine, has been working with wood to create custom butcher block furniture & cutting boards. Boarding School is our collaborative way to create pieces that people can share for years to come.

The wooden books are coptic bound with waxed linen thread, hand torn watercolor paper & topographic map end pages. Erik carefully selects wood in Maine that has character, which makes each journal unique. All the boards are finished with natural tung oil and custom letter stamped.
