Boat Daddy Marine originally started about 5 years ago as a boat parts drop shipping company that quickly pivoted to social media. Ever since the business began I started an Instagram account and posted boating content daily. The Boat Daddy Marine Instagram account now has over 61.5k followers and growing. The account showcases photos and videos of center console and sportfishing boats around Wilmington, NC where I live. I also attend different boat shows throughout the year to stay up to date with the latest boats, grab new content and network with different brands.
How did the name Boat Daddy Marine Originate?
During my senior year of college I lived on a 55' Azimut Yacht and a custom 50' Post Sportfish. I lived a lifestyle I had only dreamed of and would love to live on a boat again in the future. Living on the boats meant I was responsible for helping with getting parts, fixing things with the owners and most importantly keeping them clean and washed. When I was searching for names for the business my family commented how I was always taking care of different boats, effectively coining the term 'Boat Daddy'.
How did I get into social media management for other brands?
I stumbled into social media management when I went to the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show for the first time. I took a bunch of pictures and posted one of a custom refit 66' Jim Smith. The owner contacted me and told me to get in touch with him at the Miami Boat Show to help him run the social media for his boat yard. I put together a proposal for him and we have been working together ever since. I have since attended several more boat shows and each one allows me the opportunity to network and has lead to picking up several more clients including several boat brokers and a boat concierge company. I now manage a total of 5 Instagram accounts total on a daily basis for my clients.
