All the business behind this business:
~A little about me~ :
I was born and raised in the breathtaking state of Utah. I moved to Alaska in my early twenties and lived there for almost ten years, raising my own children until our recent move back to Utah. I have two awesome daughters and one amazing husband.
I have been creating my whole life. I have to make things. I try to put something into the world every day that I think is beautiful: a handmade card, something to wear, a photograph, a drawing on a napkin for my daughter's lunchbox.
I love cats, the smell of hot cement cooled by a rainstorm, books, and all things tiny.
~A little about how the business started~ :
I moved to Alaska for work that kept me very busy, by the time my second daughter was born it was too busy. And so I left full time work to be at home with my children.
I started making clothing for my children, and decided I might like to make things for other children too. I have since expanded what I do, and now also make things for women.
~A little about the name of my business~ :
The Sanskrit word "bodhi" literally means "awakened". I have done many kinds of work in my life, but this one fits best. When I started making things with my hands for income, and building this little business involving my family and friends, I felt so happy and awake... the name is about that.
~A little about my product~:
My father is an engineer, who now teaches math, and my mother is helplessly creative. She draws, writes, and makes the most beautiful quilts. I remember her staying up way too late, for nights on end, to work on a creation that would consume her until she finished. I feel like I was lucky enough to get a little of both parents. I love to create, and I love to problem solve; to make things work the way I think they should.
I created this business while living in a rainforest, many of our days were grey. Bringing color into our lives was important! I like to work in warm, and bright materials.
I love fabric. I can spend hours combing through fabrics, putting them together in different ways.
I think we should be able to wear clothing that expresses who we are, and be comfortable at the same time. I try to find that balance with the things I choose to make. I hope you like them.
Thank you for supporting handmade!
