Bonnie Murray
Suburban St. Louis is where I reside with my black Lab, Murphy. Printmaking and oil painting are a passion and I move from one to the other to explore a new technique, or develop a new subject matter. This ability to work within the two medias supports my evolution as an artist.
The collagraph is my favorite printmaking process which has evolved over the last thirty years. I spent many years working with still life subject matter, but over the past few years I have been focusing on birds. The feathers afford me unending inspiration in terms of color, pattern and texture. For more information about my process please take a look at this page on my website http://www.bonniemurray.com/pages/prints/collagraphs/tech.html
Over the past 15 years I have exhibited my work in numerous major cities and am included in many corporate collections. A sampling of the corporations that have purchased my work include: Allied Signal Corp., Cigna, Citicorp, Marriott Corp. and PepsiCo, Inc.
I am a member of the PRINTSY TEAM (etsy printmaking group). You can read my recent interview here
http://printsy.blogspot.com/2010/01/printsy-interview-bonnie-murray.html
I joined etsy in 2009 in order to make my work accessible to anyone anywhere and have connected with some wonderful people.

For the past several months I have been trying to produce a painting a day. Many of which you can find in my shop. To see more please visit my blog http://bonniemurraypaintings.blogpot.com. Lately I have gone back to doing some printmaking. I have been experimenting with black and white collographs. Because of all the different textures used in my pieces people often find the black and white as interesting as color versions of my collographs. To see more of my collographs and monotypes please visit my blog http://bonniemurrayprints.blogspot.com
The process I developed for my collographs allows me to print a maximum of 25 prints from each plate. I have occassionally pulled 25 prints within a "series", but usually limit the maximum to 10 or 15. My numbering system is a little bit different from the usual. For example, if someone is printing a litho they would number their work 1/25, 2/25 and so on. I, on the other hand, number my color collographs as follows: "Peruvian Pot #1, Peruvian Pot #2, and so on. Although the composition and basic structure of each print within a series is the same, the colors of each print are unique. No two prints are exactly alike.
