Printmaker. Hand-pulled, original art prints.

Ames, Iowa 2 Sales On Etsy since 2012

Announcement   Welcome to "Bonnie Samuel, Printmaker." Here you'll find original prints created in the relief methods of woodblock, linocuts, collagraphs, and monotypes too.

I design and produce each print, each is an original art work. I use non-toxic materials, each piece either pressed to paper by hand or with an etching press. My themes revolve around everyday life, how we live and interact with each other and the earth--there's a bit of whimsy to some of my art, definitely color and often a message too.

Your comments and questions are most welcome.

About

Bonnie Samuel Printmaker's shop is open!

I am a printmaker, creating my prints, start to finish, by hand. Printmaking is very much a diverse medium, encompassing a variety of methods to create. No matter the method of choice, each print is individually made, "hand-pulled" by the artist.

I create my work with collagraphs, white-line woodblock, wood and linocut works and monotypes. The white-line woodcut is a technique developed by the Provincetown Printers of the early 1900’s. My linoleum cut work is sometimes black and white, sometimes color done through a reduction method, then printed on an etching press on fine paper. Linocuts are done in multiples or “editions”, whereas white-line woodcut prints are unique, hand-painted and pressed, one-of-a-kind prints.

I also write a blog, "Art and Issues", writing about my work, but also events, issues in the business of art, even art as social commentary. Find my blog at http://BonnieSamuelPrintmaker.blogspot.com. Your a welcome to leave a comment too.

Welcome to my art shop, Bonnie Samuel, Printmaker!

I am a printmaker, creating in woodblock, monotypes, and linocuts. My art depicts the relationships of we humans to one another and our interaction with nature. Themes may be whimsical or have a bit of soapbox, but tell a story reflecting how we live, past and present.

I’ve recently worked in “white line wood-block printing,” a technique developed by American Provincetown Printers in the early 20th century. This work involves carving one's drawing on a woodblock, coloring with paint or ink and then hand-pressing to transfer the image to paper.

I create with “non-toxic” printing inks and materials, keeping my studio free of chemicals, safer for myself and the earth too.
