About

Reliving Early American History

My home is filled with books and ephemera up to the ceiling and under the beds, on every flat surface. A lover of American history, we live on the Brandywine Battlefield, the site of the largest battle of the Revolutionary War. You can see the American flag flying over General Washington's headquarters from my office and studio windows.

I am so inspired by the courage and brilliance of our forefathers. It guides me every day to take risks in my art work and business.

I began collecting Pre-Raphaelite books in 1970 as an English major at Colgate University. My interests grew into other areas; currently I am exploring early American Sheet Music up to the Civil War.

We grew up in a home that loved history. Our parents, both Armenian, knew the importance of preserving events on paper, as they were both first generation Americans. Their parents fled Anatolia in 1915, so nothing was saved, only oral history.
