About

Vintage and Antique book plates, always originals!

Welcome to Booksygirl, my little vintage and antique book page, lithograph, etching, and book plate shop! I sell only ORIGINAL vintage and antique prints...no copies or reproductions, EVER. I am not the copyright holder AND plus my customers love the original nature of these pages, so I only supply originals.

I spend lots of time looking for these prints, often seeking them out in dusty forgotten corners, finding them repeatedly when I can (some are harder and harder to find these days) and that's why you'll see things re-listed sometimes---not copies, just another page that I was lucky enough to find again!

Another thing you're sure to notice is that you'll find GREAT prices in my shop! That's not because my items are qualitatively different from shops where they're sold for more. It's because I personally love and truly believe that these pages should be readily available for display----this our shared past and we all deserve access to it! Plus, I love cluster framing, where you place many framed or displayed items clustered together. My small home won't accommodate all of my much loved vintage pages---so I want them to find homes, all over the world!

We can learn so much from these old books, photographs, charts, and illustrations. See how far we've come in our understanding of things, how the world works. And in some cases---and these are my favorite times---we find out how much we already knew, a long time ago, and haven't really been able to improve on since. That's really, in a nutshell, why I love vintage books and information! They tie you to a lineage and make you feel part of a bigger story arc----one that is so clearly connected to the culture at any given time in history. These books change, as we change, culture changes, our perspectives change, and it feels like how it's supposed to be.

I describe my pages accurately---if there is foxing or staining, I will mention that, and will price the item accordingly. General and mild fading from the passage of time or rough edges where the item was removed from a book will be mentioned when necessary, but depending on the popularity of the item/page, may not reduce price.

Please read descriptions well and contact me anytime for a quick response about the condition of the item. I will often reuse photos when re-listing items that I've found over and over again---there may be slight variations in the page you receive but any significant variations will be mentioned in the description.

Thanks for stopping by! :)

I'm a mom with a passion for vintage decor. Alas, my small home (5 of us in under 1000 sq. ft.) can only accommodate a tiny fraction of my vintage discoveries. Everything else, I sell on Booksygirl!

Welcome to Booksygirl! Vintage goodies added regularly, so please check back often if you're in the market for cool vintage ORIGINAL book pages. If you have something in particular you're looking for, please ask....I just may have exactly what you're looking for but just not have had the chance to list it yet----that's especially true for maps! If you see one variety of map, but need it for a different country or state---ask me and I'll tell you if I've got it. :)

Shipping
First Class Shipping (3-9 days, USPS domestic--international shipping times vary)

I will ship out your package within 1-5 days!

If you must have your package by a certain date contact me and I'll let you know how long it will take. :) OR, leave a message in the NOTES box at checkout letting me know your need-by date. Please note shipping times when estimating.

I'm happy to ship internationally and do so LOTS! There is very little tracking for international orders, although when it arrives and is delivered, the USPS sends a message that it has been delivered. If your postal carrier sends it back or it's held up in customs, please understand that those things are out of my hands. I will ship to address you include with your purchase. You must look at your item immediately upon receipt to make sure it wasn't damaged in transit, etc. You have 5 days from the time of receipt to contact me about issues.

If you'd like insurance added, please ask for it before purchasing and I'll add it to your order. It doesn't come automatically with USPS first class shipping.

If domestic customers would like orders to go with priority shipping (1-3 business days vs 3-9 business days for USPS First class, domestic)---just let me know and I'll add that to your order. It's USUALLY about $3.60 MORE than first class.

I don't do international priority shipping at this time as I have not found to it be any quicker that first class and it's much more expensive.

++++++++++++++++

IF YOU ARE A CUSTOMER FROM EUROPE---various locations, including the UK, and SOMETIMES Canada---please know that you MIGHT incur postal, customs, and/or VAT (value added tax) charges when your item arrives. Your local postal service MIGHT hold your package until you pay that charge. I don't have specifics---you'll need to determine that on your end before ordering---but I've been informed by several customers that this sometimes happens and I wanted to pass that on to you. I cannot be responsible for additional charges on your end and do NOT take returns on items that were refused by the buyer due to additional charges. Thanks for understanding.

I'll answer any questions you may have about local delivery practices, but it will be based on my experience and what individual customers have told me. I don't know the VAT and customs charges for individual areas. Please research those details on your end. Thanks! :)
Refunds and Exchanges
PLEASE OPEN PACKAGES UPON RECEIPT----if you have any issues at all, contact me within 5 days of receiving the package. My official shop policy is that you must contact me within 5 days of receiving the package, according to USPS tracking, in order to discuss refunds or exchanges. Thanks!

With tracking available for domestic orders, we can usually tell if something made it to you or not. Thank you USPS! While it saddens me, if something was delivered to you but stolen from your postal box or front steps, I won't be able to offer a refund. I ask that you make sure your postal carrier knows of a safe place to leave your package. Don't let the bad guys get your stuff! :)

You must look at your item immediately upon receipt to make sure it wasn't damaged in transit, etc. You have 5 days from the time of receipt to contact me about issues. Anything beyond that, I will not be able to discuss refunds. Please check the acceptability of an item upon receipt. Good online-purchasing etiquette, all around. :) Thank you!

If something is lost in the mail (it's only happened twice out of over 1000 sales!), I'll offer the option of replacement pages (if they're in stock) or---only if what you ordered is now out of stock---a full refund. I'm a SMALL home based business and can't always refund money asap---that is why replacements will be the first line of recompense and then refund, when I have funds in my etsy account---usually with 48 hours.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE INSURANCE FOR YOUR ITEM please let me know and I can add that your price----it's usually only a few extra dollars, and I make no profit on that---it's just for your protection. If your mail carrier is rough on packages, you may want to get this insurance added. :)

Damaged pages (from inadequate packaging or mistakes on MY part) can be sent back to me and I'll replace or refund your purchase price. This is extremely rare, as I package my pages up REALLY well! Never fear! :) I put DO NOT BEND stickers all over my outgoing packages, and haven't had a mail carrier bend one yet. But do let your carrier know of a safe place to leave your package other than the mailbox if you are worried about that. :) I can't refund purchases because the mail carrier bent a package in half (again, hasn't happened that i know of)---but you should definitely pursue compensation from the post office in that event.
Additional policies and FAQs
I love going out and finding cool stuff! That's why I curate and sell old book pages---some 25 years old, some over 100 years old. Please expect some age related imperfections in your pages. The edges may be rough, there may be an age spot here and there (not in large areas or places that obscure images), foxing around the edges is very likely, and the occasional corner that has a crease is to be expected. I don't sell super damaged pages, but please do not expect a new print from a printer, because I never sell photocopies. These are true vintage and antique book plates and pages. Viva la vintage!

If you are concerned about the nature of a particular page, please contact me before purchasing. The photos I use are very often a similar but not the exact page you'll receive, to cut down on time spent listing newly discovered repeat items.

Booksygirl is my passion, with a love of all things vintage having been passed down to me from my mom and grandfather. My very own little vintage and antique book page, lithograph, book plate shop! Contact me if you're interested in purchasing a whole set of something you see in my shop---like the monthly botanicals or astronomy pages. If I have a whole set in stock---again, I DO NOT SELL PHOTOCOPIES AS I'M NOT THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER---I will offer you a 10-20 percent discount on the bulk purchase (discount amount depends on the items you're interested in)!
