About

Grown and Gathered in New Hampshire

Hello and welcome to my Etsy shop, which reflects so many of my passions, interests, and the rich abundance of the land surrounding me.
I am a 50-something single mom living on 6 riverside acres in beautiful New Hampshire. I work at home and am seeking ways to make a living from my land and the untrammeled fields and forests nearby. I go into the woods every single day and am always discovering more about the forest pharmacy and spiritual energy that our native trees and plants offer. I value self-sufficiency, alternative medicine, organic gardening, and feeling connected to nature and place.
My distant background is in fashion and I worked many years in the fur, fashion, and vintage clothing business in Boston. After a life altering accident, I gave up my business and returned to college for environmental studies, but after getting my degree, found the 9 to 5 working life was not for me. For years I sought a home based venture to support myself and my son. I found that in 2002, when I bought the Botanical Lampshades business, which had been in my town since the late 1940's. I am the fourth woman to carry on this business.
Today, my primary work is making custom lampshades, with pressed flowers, maps, handmade papers and ephemera. I grow, gather and press all the flowers, vines, ferns, grasses and leaves in my lampshades.
I also grow organic herbs, fruits and vegetables, make beeswax candles and salves, collect mushrooms, feathers, shells, beach glass, heart rocks, beaver sticks, driftwood, roadkill; anything I can sustainably and conscientiously gather or harvest to create art with, or supply to you - my customers.
You might also find some great vintage items, lamps and lighting supplies, lampshade materials, jewelry, beads, buttons, and other collectibles. I love to look for treasures at yard sales, antique shops and second hand stores.
If you have an idea for a custom lampshade or nightlight, please convo me and we can work together to make you a practical one of a kind piece that will distinguish your home and last for decades.
If you have an idea for a nature based art project, or you observe and honor any of the earth centered religions such as wicca or paganism, and seek specialty woods, berries, bark, rocks, herbs or other natural items, please let me know and I can gather them for you.
Unlike many other Etsy sellers, I grow and harvest everything myself rather than buying in bulk from unknown sources, then marking up and repackaging herbs. All items in my shop were organically grown, gathered, scavenged, or ethically harvested by me in the pristine fields and forests of northern New Hampshire.

Custom work is my specialty, with lampshades available in over 200 different sizes, made with pressed flowers, handmade papers and maps. Contact me with your ideas for a one of a kind lampshade.

I have a life long experience studying, growing and gathering the herbs, flowers, woodland plants and trees of New Hampshire, which I continue in the most respectful, sustainable and conservative way. Please contact me for your field and forest supplies and rest assured that no natural resources or living things have ever, or will ever be exploited in a damaging, wasteful, greedy or careless manner in my Etsy shop.

Payment
I accept credit cards and Paypal.

I will hold or reserve an item for one week only. If you do not purchase the item in one week it will be released for sale.

After you place an order PLEASE check your email and Etsy account for convos or messages regarding your order. If I have a question or problem with your order and you do not respond to messages, it is very difficult for me to complete your order.
Shipping
Shipping is from New Hampshire via USPS, with the most economical service.

Please make sure you provide a correct current address. Your label is printed with the address as YOU provide it. If you give the wrong address, there will be problems with delivery, and I can not be held responsible for incorrectly entered addresses. If you give me the wrong address, and your item is returned to me, I will ask that you purchase another mailing label through Etsy that I will list for you. I can not cover your shipping costs when you have given me an incorrect address.

NO RUSH ORDERS ACCEPTED WITHOUT PRIOR COMMUNICATION!
If you are in a hurry, you must contact me BEFORE - NOT AFTER you order so that I may adjust the shipping method and price to fit your schedule, or let you know if it is not possible to meet your deadline. Many of my items are gathered upon your order and it may take several days before I can go out into the forest to collect and process your items. Orders placed with a time frame will be cancelled and refunded unless you have communicated with me BEFORE the order is placed.

I can not help you if you tell me AFTER your item has been purchased that you have a deadline. Many orders go out the same day they are purchased - once they go out I have no control over what happens with USPS mail.

Items will be mailed out within two business days of payment, with exceptions made for inclement weather, and custom orders.

Once your item is in the mail, I can not change the shipping method. I can not speed up your delivery, nor can I predict what day you will receive your item. I will provide a tracking number and you can visit USPS.com to check on the progress of your package.

I use recycled packing materials. Reduce, reuse recycle!

Smaller lightweight items will be mailed USPS first class which can take 2 to 9 days.

Packages over 1 pound will be mailed priority which usually takes 2 to 7 days.

For the most accurate shipping costs on multiple orders, please convo me with the items you want and your zip code, and I can give you a price.

All lampshades, higher priced items and breakable items are insured.

Lampshades are expensive to mail, fragile, and easily damaged. I do not accept returns on lampshades unless I have made an error in size or hardware. Please be absolutely sure of the size and hardware you need for your lamp.

Do not return a lampshade unless you have spoken with me. A returned lampshade must be packed as you received it and undamaged. You need to insure the returned shade because if it is damaged upon return, I will not refund your purchase.

If you need an item expedited, please convo me and I will change the listing and price accordingly. Having said this, I live in a remote part of NH where USPS Express mail can take a day longer than advertised. Depending where you live, and what day of the week it is, it may not be possible to mail your item overnight or two day delivery.

If you place an order PLEASE check back into Etsy and look at your messages in the next few days. If I have a question, or a problem, or your address is wrong, and you do not answer my convos, I have a very hard time knowing what to do with your order.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you are not pleased with your purchase, you must contact me within 7 days of arrival so that we can work on a solution. There are many ways an issue can be resolved, and timeliness and communication is crucial. I want all of my customers to be happy and satisfied. One way to help is to read the entire description and view all the photos in the listing before you purchase, noting size and measurements and any other details so that your expectations match what is being offered.

For Lampshades:
Before ordering: Please BE SURE that the lampshade hardware and size will work with your lamp base. Lampshade hardware can be changed at no charge to accommodate most lamps. Please ask questions or send photos of your base if you are not sure.

There are NO RETURNS on custom made lampshades. I am willing to work very closely with you so that you know what you are getting and it is exactly what you want.

Map images will be shown to you for your approval before ordering. Samples can be sent to you of paper or styrene so you can see the weight and color.

In stock lampshades may be returned at YOUR expense, ONLY after speaking with me directly. Shades must be properly packed and boxed, and insured as you received it. Shades that are damaged upon return will not be refunded - for this reason you need to insure the returns yourself.

If your shade is damaged in shipping, please retain the box and packing materials so they may be inspected. All lampshades are sent insured. Do not return your shade unless you have spoken with me directly first.

For Other Items:

If you feel that the item is not as described, or you are unhappy with your purchase, please contact me within 7 days of arrival so that I may have a chance to make things right. I want all of my customers to be satisfied, and try to describe things as accurately as possible, but realize this can be sometimes be difficult.

If you have a particular need or requirement for an item and this is not addressed in the description, please do not hesitate to ask.

I am quite willing to send samples when applicable, or take more pictures, or describe items further to satisfy your questions.

I would rather take the time before the purchase to clarify things than waste time and money with returns based on buyers remorse, impulse purchases, unread descriptions or frivolous claims.

Having said this, please give me the opportunity to address your dissatisfaction before leaving negative feedback.

If your item is damaged, please contact me right away and do not throw out the box or packaging. Photos may be necessary to support damage claims.

Unlike many other Etsy sellers, I personally grow and gather all my own my field and forest products. They are not purchased in bulk from outside sources and repackaged for sale; they are ethically and sustainably grown, harvested or wildcrafted by myself from the pristine fields and forests of New Hampshire. You can be assured of the source, authenticity and purity of herbs, bark, berries, and other natural products in my store.
