Our (Brief) Story

Boundary Fog Furniture is a one-man design/build shop based in Portland, Oregon. Using traditional tools and techniques, I produce modern useful objects primarily with hardwoods grown and felled right here in the Pacific Northwest.

All items are made-to-order unless otherwise noted, thus allowing for some customization. If you would like a custom piece based on an item in my shop--or something different altogether--send me a message and I will respond promptly.

Using hardwoods from the Pacific Northwest, we aim to produce functional, timeless pieces. The pieces we sell were made originally to fill a need in our own home. Custom orders are accepted and encouraged--let us help fill the need in yours.

The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
Returns and exchange details
I worked in a big-box-type retail furniture store before I started making my own furniture. I've seen almost every type of ugly behavior that comes out of people when an issue arises involving furniture. The corporate retail environment doesn't help the situation, either. A big reason I build furniture--and now, sell it on Etsy--is that the entire corporate retail experience is limited and unpleasant for just about everyone. I imagine that's partly why you're on Etsy now, too.

Boundary Fog is a one-person operation. I design and build the furniture, answer your questions and ship your new piece to you. My founding goal is to over-deliver on your expectations. In that spirit, I am here if something isn't right with your order. I want to earn your positive feedback and repeat business.

Being a fledgling company, I do have some general policies in place. I offer a 14-day return policy on all undamaged, non-custom orders. You, the buyer, are responsible for return shipping. If something is damaged upon arrival, we will submit a claim with the shipping carrier. If you are unhappy with something aesthetic--be it color, size, etc--contact me. As long as the item is undamaged and basically unused, we can hopefully exchange it with what you need (again, additional shipping is paid by the buyer).

Custom orders (platform beds and dressers included) are not returnable, and any deposits paid are non-refundable. You will be so heavily involved in the design process, and updated regularly as the piece is built, that any discrepancy between expectations and reality should be inconsequential.
Shipping
Shipping costs are included/no additional charge! If you live in the Portland, OR area and would like to pick up in person, let me know and we can make arrangements.

Standard shipping to the continental United States uses UPS Ground service on most items. For faster shipping, please contact me to receive a quote for the additional fee.

For larger items, they will typically be shipped by a blanket-wrap service. This takes a little more time to arrive (typically 3-6 weeks) but unwrapping and set-up are typically included. Freight shipping may also be an option when blanket-wrap is not; I will work with you to find the right method for your needs.
