Announcement    Life threw me a curveball - my husband of 38 years unexpectedly died in November. Not sure where life will take me at the moment but I hope to be back in early Spring 2022.




I enjoy the art of bookbinding. My favorite binding method is the long stitch; a method of binding that has a rich history. The paper I use has a wonderful thickness that is perfect for many mediums; pencil to fountain pen, charcoal to watercolor. I make all my journals in small batches which gives me the opportunity to be influenced by the material; whether it be leather, cork, vinyl or book-board. All journals are made by me in my studio located in Santa Cruz, Ca.

All journals listed are ready to ship (unless noted) and ship next business day. Custom orders are welcome and usually take 2-3 days to make.

I make journals that inspire creativity!

My name is Stephanie and I created BoundByHandJournals.

We have become so dependent on technology that we’ve forgotten the lost art of putting pen to paper. I remember the joy of sitting down and jotting down my thoughts - good and bad. I like to tell my daughter - don’t write it on online - write it in a journal!

I've design and create every journal listed in my studio in Santa Cruz, Ca. Here you will find an amazing collection of hand bound journals.

Each journal is unique with its own personality.

It’s a passion I have and hope one of my journals spark a passion in you!

Hello and thank you for your interest in my journals. I used a journal for many years, it was my constant companion until the day I purchased my first computer.... One day while cleaning out a closet, I found that journal I had purchased over 30 years before. I realized just how much I missed putting pen to paper and wanted to pass on that love to my daughter. I was unable to find a good quality journal - so I made one for her. Her friends saw it and wanted one and the rest is history.....

Returns and exchanges
I don't accept returns, exchanges, or cancellations

Returns and exchange details
Please choose carefully. Refunds or exchanges only accepted on items damaged during transit.
Payment
I accept all major credit cards through Etsy and Paypal. If you pay with a Paypal E-check, I will need to wait for the check to clear before sending out your order.
Shipping
Journals are mailed via USPS Priority Mail within the US. Shipments elsewhere are mailed First Class International Mail.

All journals are wrapped in colored tissue and tied with a ribbon. Bubble wrap is used for protection.

International Shipping please note: Buyers are responsible for all duties, taxes, levies or fees. UK buyers - please be aware that you will probably have to pay VAT on this item. International shipping can take from 1-6 weeks to arrive.

Australia Buyers:
As of July 1, 2018, Australia will apply the 10% GST to all imports.

If you see something in my shop you like but don't have the money right away - contact me. I am more than willing to set it aside for you for up to 7 days without a deposit. So many people contact me after the journal they really wanted was sold. In many cases, once I am out of a leather - I can't get it again

Are journals ready to ship

Unless noted in the listing, all journals listed are ready to ship to their forever home and will ship the next business day.

Custom order takes 2-3 days to make.

How are jounals shipped

Within the US all journals are shipped USPS Priority Mail with tracking. Delivery takes 2-4 business days.

International orders are shipping First Class Mail with tracking. Delivery takes 1-6 weeks.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All journals come wrapped in colored tissue and ribbon. Ready for gift giving or for yourself.

Is this shop a collective of makers

NO. BoundByHand Journals does not have a team of people making tons of journals. Each journal is handmade by myself from start to finish. I hand fold the paper, hand cut the leather or vinyl and hand bound the journal. I use only quality materials in each journal I create. Each journal is made one at a time.
