Box of Hollyhocks

I love hunting for treasures. As a young girl my grandfather would often bring me back a "little treasure" from his thrift store hunts. I've been a collector ever since. My collection started with the basics: sea shells, rocks, candy. By the time I was eight, I had rounded up an extensive collection of unicorns, cat figurines and Lisa Frank stationary. Needless to say, when I turned 16, I became a thrift store junkie.

The name Box of Hollyhocks seemed fitting as my mother has gown hollyhocks ever since I can remember. I knew them because they were the tallest.

Setting up an Etsy shop has allowed me to keep hunting for the best vintage and share my treasures! My shop is my collection and it's never empty!

Also, my men's collection at VintageKingofny

I hope you enjoy!

Refunds and Exchanges
All sales are final. I describe and photograph my items as accurately as possible. I make an honest effort to mention any flaws. Know that you are buying pieces that are vintage which means pre-owned, worn and or used. As with all vintage pieces, some imperfections are a given. Very rarely are items "dead stock" or in pristine, unused condition.

Vintage sizing runs small compared to modern sizing. Please double check the garment/shoe measurements to ensure fit.

I do my best to capture accurate color. I also try to make note of any item that appears differently than in the photo. If you are very particular about color, please message me and I will match an item's color to the correct pantone.

If you have questions about an item, please contact me before purchasing.

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

All items at Box of Hollyhocks are one-of-a-kind vintage. Custom and personalized orders are not available.

Sizing details

My mannequin is a size medium with a 38 inch bust.

When measuring garments, bust is measured armpit to armpit, then doubled. All other measurements are measured flat, seam to seam.

Tagged vintage sizes run small compared to modern sizing.

Vintage footwear also runs small compared to modern sizing. The "insole" measurement is the approximate length of the shoe's interior footbed. This measurement should be the approximate length of your foot.

Care instructions

For leather, lightly spot clean soiled areas with a damp cloth asap. For a care product I recommend Golden Mink Oil. It preserves, waterproofs and conditions. I generally vier away from leather soaps and cleaners.

Furs are low maintenance but do require year-around care. Furs shouldn't be worn in the rain, snow is okay so long as it's doesn't make the garment wet. When not in season, furs should be stored in an airtight bag. If your fur needs cleaning, it's best to take them to a specialist.

Wool sweaters can be hand washed and air dried. Avoid washing machines and dryers.

Rugs, textiles and embroidery should be professionally cleaned. Hand washing/soaking these items may cause colors to bleed/run.
