Following my dreams

I’m an Italian artist based in Birmingham, UK.
I started potting six year ago, when I started working in an art centre and had a pottery studio next to the studio where I was teaching sculpture. I felt fascinated by this world that was so close and different from mine. I made an artist pass that allowed me to use the pottery studio, experiment and self teach me ceramics. I loved it so much that I decided to create my own brand.
After finishing my fine art degree in sculpture I realised how difficult and challenging is to find a future in art, it has almost been ten years since then but I haven't given up yet, I think I am going in the right direction.
Since I fell in love with porcelain I have been combining sculpture and design and creating functional unique pieces. I love porcelain because of its tactile, pure white, smooth and translucent surface. It reminds me of stone, but it's much easier to work with. It's so natural and fine at the same time.
I mainly make slip casting porcelain pieces, I chose this medium over slab building and throwing because it helps me to control better the shape.
I studied sculpture, stone carved for years and I am obsessed with clean shapes. Slip casting allows me to make my own shapes and my own plaster moulds. It is a long process, but looking at the final results is so satisfying that keep me making more and more new pieces!
When I make a shape I am free to completely follow my inspiration, the only rule that apply is gravity ( unless I go for hanging the new piece! ).
Lately I have been hooked by glazes, read lots of books, bought lots of raw materials and started a new journey into experimentation.

Thank you! Without you I couldn't do what I love
