About BramblyWoods

Manifesting my love for nature and childhood memories by creating my animals from the softest pure wool and my imagination.

Welcome to the BramblyWoods! Please enjoy your visit with my original handmade needle felted woolen woodland friends: rabbits, mice, bears and more!

I hope to take you back a bit to your childhood, when small happy creatures stepped out of the pages of picture books, with their charm, innocence, humor and warmth (and maybe a bit of magic) and made their home in your imagination and memory.

I have been a wildlife artist most of my life. Even as a small girl, I felt close to, and fascinated by nature and wildlife. I studied every animal and bird that I could. I explored ravines and fields. They were halcyon days. I return to these times in my memory frequently, and they give me joy and peace. My former mediums were oils, watercolor, pen and ink, and colored pencil. I have shown my work in juried art shows, and placed in awards categories.
I discovered needle felting a few years ago. I create my animals now in three dimensions. I love this art form! I love the wool, it's warmth and color and softness. I look forward to, and am so excited by, each creatures progression as they are "born." I create each animal from scratch, one at a time. I use no patterns or forms. I spend many hours on each of my creations. Designing, making the wire armature, and then the wool! I use one small barbed needle to create each animal, poking thousands of times as the wool firms and forms to the armature, and then adding more and more wool, different colors, until.....Eureka! A sweet being gazes up at me! I guess you can tell that I love what I do!

My workshop window looks out over my vegetable garden and beyond to oak, maple and sycamore trees. My yard has many visitors and travelers. Rabbits and squirrels, mice and toads, deer and woodchucks, foxes and coyotes, hawks and all manner of birds. They are inspiration for me; all creatures great and small!

I hope that my little creations will bring a smile to your face, a warm spark of joy to your heart, and perhaps take you back a bit to your childhood.
Thank you for visiting me here in the BramblyWoods. I appreciate your time spent, wish you well, and hope you will return soon!

Warmest Wishes,
Cheri

Welcome! I am so happy that you are here!

All of my creations are designed and handmade, from scratch, by my two hands in my smoke and pet free home workshop in Michigan. Each one of my animals is unique and one of a kind collector's items. I have an overwhelming love of all creatures great and small, and do my level best to do them justice in my art. I have decided to share them with you in this small way, to spread the love!

Please keep in mind that my creations are artist handmade collectibles, and are not suitable for children under the age of eight years or for pets, due to the fact that they have wire inside and glass eyes, and can be choking hazards.

I use wool that is free of any harmful or toxic chemicals or dyes. My wool comes from sheep and alpaca that are responsibly and sustainably raised.

I simply want to do no harm on this earth, in gratitude for the many gifts I have been given.

Care instructions

My little creatures are all handmade from scratch, here in Michigan, USA, from the finest wool and alpaca, with a wire armature inside them, and glass eyes. They should always be kept from small children and pets, due to choking hazards. Many dogs and cats are attracted to the wool, so caution is advised.
They just require an occasional light "dusting". No water, please. Try to keep from direct sunlight, as wool can fade over time.
They are of heirloom quality, will give you many years of pleasure, and can be handed down to children and grandchildren!
