Hello, I am Elizabeth Johnson, seamstress, maker, designer, and creator of all the goods at Branch Out Handmade. I am so glad you've stopped by my little shop on Etsy. Branch Out handmade was born in 2008! Gasp! I'm getting old, but with age, I am bringing wisdom and experience. When I was younger, I wanted to learn how to sew. I could not find any teachers in my area so I reluctantly signed up for a quilting class. I talked a friend into joining me and off we went with my sewing machine, an all metal Kenmore machine that had belonged to my mother while she was in high school! Talk about heavy! We "mastered" our first quilt and a love of fabrics and sewing began in me! Ever since then, I have been creating and sewing quilts, which eventually led me into learning machine applique and embroidery (I am from the South, we monogram all things moving), but finally I arrived at making children's clothing which I absolutely enjoy! I want to just make all the things! If it involves fabric, I am in! I've since upgraded my machine and added a serger and a few seam rippers, and scissors which I can never seem to find, to my workshop which is located in my home which I share with my husband, Kevin, and 2 children, Luke and Emma.
