About Me:

Brisk is a brand new shop that's been a long time in the making.

I started knitting nearly 10 years ago while I was still in college. One day at the book store I picked up a knitting how-to, thinking that I could learn to make sweaters for my dog, Lily, who was always cold and walked around the house shivering pathetically every morning.

Of course being young and easily distracted I put it off and put it off until finally, a few years later, Lily fell ill. When I lost her I remembered my original motivation for learning to knit, and I started on a knitting crusade that continues to this day.

Brisk is the result of a knitting philosophy that revolves around two things: quick projects and challenging stitches.

I have a busy, busy life so when I sit down to knit I want a project that I can finish within a few hours, but as an advanced knitter I get easily bored with simple scarves made of knits and purls. The solution?

Fingerless gloves, and lots of 'em!

I love knitting with double-pointed needles--in fact, I rarely use anything else--and gloves are both quick and interesting to make. Once I figured this out it was only a short time until I started writing patterns of my own--maximizing the potential for learning new and interesting stitches, and increasing my inventory of gloves.

As Brisk continues to grow you can look forward to finding fun and funky gloves in bright, vibrant colors, as well as the patterns to make them. You can also look forward to more fun and funky photos of my friends, the models of Brisk (who I pay with cookies).

More to come! Check back soon.

The Brisk philosophy is simple: quick but complex!

I want anything I make to be both cute to look at and fun to wear, and the patterns I write to be challenging to knit but easy to use.

So many times I've come across unclear patterns whose confusing phrasing meant minutes wasted in decoding. Knitting shouldn't feel like code breaking, so Brisk patterns are different.

I include every stitch of information I can think of--from the knitting techniques you need to be familiar with before starting the pattern, to the exact way to accomplish the stitches used in the pattern--and write out every round for ease of use. If you have a question about a pattern (or a pair of gloves) feel free to contact me--I'm happy to help!

Accepted payment methods

  • Pay with Visa
  • Pay with Master Card
  • Pay with American Express
  • Pay with Discover
  • Pay with PayPal
  • Money Order
  • Check
Payment
I'd prefer Paypal, but I'm happy to accept checks or money orders as well (however, those purchases will be held for shipping until the payment clears).

Payment needs to be made within 7 days of purchase for Paypal or 10 days of purchase in the case of check/money order.
Shipping
I use the least expensive shipping method to keep shipping costs down for you, which means first class US mail. I use USPS delivery confirmation and will send you the confirmation number once the item is shipped.

If you'd like to arrange alternative shipping, I'm happy to oblige--just send me a message and I'll give you an update shipping estimate. I'm also happy to ship international but again that would require an updated shipping estimate.

Items will ship within 1-3 days of receipt of payment; I'll let you know when they go out.
Refunds and Exchanges
Buyers can cancel purchases, return or exchange items for a full refund (minus shipping costs) if they contact me within 7 days of the purchase. Buyers will have 7 days from the date of the return request to return the item in its original condition. If the item is not received within 7 days, or is received in less-than-new condition, I have the right to refuse refund.

There are no refunds for patterns, however if you have a problem with a pattern please contact me and we can try to work something out.
Additional policies and FAQs
Custom orders are welcome! Anything you see on the site (a pattern or a pair of gloves) is available--just ask!

My only guarantee is that I'll try my best to keep us both happy!
