Finding the beauty in chaos.

It all started with a bookmark.

Or I guess I should say it started back up with a bookmark.

I hadn't made anything remotely resembling jewelry in over a decade, but when a friend told me she was moving away, I knew I wanted to give her a handmade gift as a going-away present.

I went to three different stores to find just the right pieces to make that bookmark--as one does--and in the doing, I fell in love with about 200 pendants and chains and other jewelry supplies.

That was in 2015. I gave my friend her bookmark, and life got busy, and I decided it wasn't the right time. I didn't have the space or money or time to learn how to do it all again.

Then I started looking for fidget jewelry--something pretty I could wear and use to keep my hands busy. Finding something to keep my hands busy was the easy part. Finding something I'd enjoy wearing? Not so much. So when the search came up mostly empty, an idea was born.

"I'll make my own fidget jewelry, something that's to my taste," I thought. And so I began designing and planning to open a shop, but somewhere along the way, I stopped thinking about function and started thinking more about form--I wanted to make pretty things again.

I'm very particular about jewelry, and I wanted to make things I would enjoy wearing. So I started experimenting with styles and found myself drawn to unique cameos and fairy-tale pieces, as well as coming up with some darker, more horror-themed ideas that I hope to finish soon.

Now I'm creating new things regularly from the chaos of a tiny cluttered desk in my tiny cluttered apartment, and I couldn't be happier. Unless, of course, I was also making candles. [Hint: keep an eye out for new sections in the shop. Candles coming soon!]

I grew up helping my mom and grandma with their crafts, and I caught the crafty bug early. I not only make jewelry, but I also knit, crochet, and make candles. When I'm not doing any of that, I'm usually writing. Or I should be, anyway.
