Announcement   Broody Hen Designs - I make handmade baby and children’s goods. Like quilts, blankets, onsies, bibs, bunnies and more. My items are made with re-purposed fabrics, sewn with and stuffed with fabric scraps, up cycled and recycled clothing or household fabrics. Which make them truly unique and rarely two are alike. Not mass produced in factories, but in my spare room, in my spare time, all made out of my heart and my good intention to be apart of this precious time in ones lives. The desire to raise and care for the young, the definition of a Broody Hen.

About

I have been creating and crafting for Broody Hen Designs for 9 years now!

9 years ago, (YIKES! where'd the time go?) my best friend and my sister-in-law were pregnant with their firsts at the same time. I thought, I need to make something special for them, something that would be an extension of my love. Being that I was in my mid- 20's, everyone else started having babies too and I began churning out gifts as fast as they churned out babies!! Then at the baby showers of my friends, their friends and family saw my creations and wanted to hire me to make something for their friends and family and so on. And so became Broody Hen Designs. Ironically as I was making baby stuff, I was trying eagerly to have a baby of my own, (hence the BROODYHEN name, Broody Means, wanting to start family and make babies) but 14 years, 5 IUI's and 5 IVF's later, we realized it wasn't meant to be. But still I create, as it is my way to contribute to the world as it went on around me. I like to think it's a healthy distraction and makes me feel like I have a purpose and an inclusion in life and it's little miracles. I make for other Broody people, and even if I can't be one, I always love to get my baby fix from my many friends and their little ones. They are my muse, my feedback, my inspiration. So keep em coming guys. keep popping out those babies, I'll be here to luv them and make them special gifts that are an extension of your love.

I was an elementry school secretary for 10 yrs. now off work due to disability, if it wasn't for my craft, I'd go crazy! I need to contribute to the world somehow and what better way than to interact & collaborate w/ new mommies & brand new babies.

Ross is my hubby! I like to get his opinion of new designs & if in fact my elephants look like elephants, he's been known to re-draw an elephants trunk. Or which way sailboats sail goes.. He also drives me to my craft shows, so that's super helpful!
