About

Loves Glass

When I'm not messing around with glass and jewelry, I write fantasy stories. I have been fortunate enough to have a few things published. If you're interested, do a search for THE LOST GATEWAY by Josephine L. Brooks. I'm working on two more novels as we speak.

My husband is to blame for my glass obsession. In college, he took up silver-smithing as an outlet for his pyromania. If he can set something on fire, he will. You should see him on the Fourth of July. It's terrifying.

I found his silver work fascinating, but I knew I couldn't do that without hurting myself since I am also a giant klutz. :)

I took up beading, and it wasn't long before I discovered lampwork glass beads. At the time the artist-made beads were almost impossible to get, so I bought a beginning lampworking kit for my husband and asked him to make some beads. I figured that since he was the resident pyromaniac, he would do fine.

I helped him set up a workspace, and we read the books. I watched him make some beads. He convinced me to give it a try. I did, but tentatively. I was convinced I was going to set the place on fire. Turns out, it's not that bad. Within a few beads, I was hooked. I haven't let him touch my lampworking equipment since. :)
