About

The Road Is Long, but I Loved Every Mile!

There came a point in time when I realized I was not happy with my career as a graphic artist working in advertising. It was not even that I didn't like the work, it was more a longing to somehow create my own concepts. The problem was, I didn't know what I should be doing instead. I decided that the best plan was to quit my job and drive from Boston down to North Carolina to do some windsurfing, and give my mind a chance to wander and consider my options. To make a long story short, I ended up driving all the way to Mexico City and then back to Boston. It was during this epic journey that I decided to move out to California and try to make a living as an artist.

I drove out to Los Angeles in January of 1989 and got a small studio on Hollywood Blvd. I just jumped in with both feet and started making furniture in wood. Several stores were buying my work, and one buyer mentioned to me that my work would be great in steel. I looked into having one of my designs fabricated, but the cost was way too high. I figured that I was always good with tools, so I went out and bought a welder and taught myself how to use it.

That was around 24 years ago, and shortly after, I moved to a much larger warehouse studio and have been working as a sculptor full time ever since I came to LA. I am happy to say that my work has been exhibited at many art museums, galleries, in 44 books, and frequently on TV and in movies. I have well over 1300 collectors, and have large sculptures as permanent installations at Little Rock National Airport, Edwards Air Force Base, Children's Hospital Boston, Vanderbilt University, University of Pittsburgh, Doubletree Hotel Burlingame, Union Station Pottsville, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, Embassy Suites Ontario, NBC Universal, The Rolling Ball Museum in Seoul, Korea, and many more.

I just love making art, and I think that shows. People constantly tell me that my work makes them happy every time they look at it. I have a very loyal following of collectors, and several of them have over a dozen of my works. These days, I am often featured on various television shows around the world bringing my work to a whole new audience.
