Announcement    Grab a cup of coffee (or a soda) and stay awhile! I have a variety of art from originals to limited edition prints to smaller, more affordable open edition deorator prints. All my artwork is hand signed. Most of my work is created in colored pencil, but I've also created artwork in acrylic, graphite pencil and oil. As you can see, horses are my passion, but I like to do an occasional flower or still life, even garden produce, now and then. If you see something you like, please let me know! If you have any questions please ask! Custom orders are welcome.

Visit my website at: http://www.bbrucknerart.com for lots of limited edition, open edition and original art.

My Lifelong Love! Horses!

I've been in love with horses my entire life, even when I didn't own a horse and continuosly pestered my parents to buy me one. I've been drawing them since I was three when my Mom found me drawing them on the end of a peach crate (when they used to be wood!) When I'd finally nagged my way into owning a $35 spotted pony I would sit in the corral and draw him from real life. I eventually discovered the wondrous invention of photography and have been photographing them ever since, I have a stockpile of horse photos to last a lifetime!

I studied commercial art in college but lost interest in "college art" my first year and decided to go home and do it "my way". I was married with two small daughters when I took my art to a commercial level and got into prints. I've never regretted making that commitment. I learned to cut mats and do my own framing, I learned to market through shows, galleries, ads and eventually online (I even learned to design websites so I could keep and maintain my own).

I started selling on Ebay but soon found it was turning more and more into a very commercially saturated site so when I discovered Etsy, I knew I'd found my niche! In order to sell my priints at an affordable price, I invested in a photo quality printer, learned about papers and inks and began to make my own prints. This gives me the freedom to make any size I need, I don't have to keep large quantities on hand and can have a huge variety of images! It also gives me a better opportunity for quality control over working with a print shop and having a limited amount of control and images.

The family ranch, local horse shows and rodeos and neighborhood brandings give me lots of opportunity to photograph my favorite subject.... the working ranch horse. If I can create a portrait of a cowhorse and have a seasoned old cowboy recognize and compliment the drawing as the "real thing" then I know I've done it right!

I'm a farm girl turned ranch girl (yes there is a difference) who loves horses and I'm lucky enough to be able to photograph and draw my favorite subject matter right where I live! My husband and I own and work on a ranch in South Dakota.

Welcome to my Online Art Gallery! I'm a real life ranch girl who draws what she knows and loves the best... horses! (except for the husband and kids, of course). I've been creating and selling for over 30 years and I think I have a pretty nice selection, which will grow the longer I'm here. So check back now and then. I create, package and ship all my own work so if you have a deadline to meet, just let me know and I'll do my best to get it to you. Always feel free to email me with questions or comments! Check out my web site for lots more art at www.bbrucknerart.com. For those of you who are interested in my hand strung, heirloom rosaries, I have moved them to my Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/SpiritualArt.
