Creating new Funky Fish in the current ongoing series. I'm always inspired by the sea. The fish are drawn with colored pencils on wood and the background is acrylic. The surface is varnished and a hanger is mounted on the back. Each is one of a kind.

About

Bringing Pieces From the Dream World to Reality

In middle school I met with a mentor on Wednesday afternoons. He was an older gentleman who looked like he had just stumbled off a pirate ship with a load of art supplies he'd pillaged from the craft store. He introduced me to a particular brand of colored pencils and I became fascinated. I wanted to push them to the limit and make their colors tell stories. I had already loved doodling and his instruction showed me that there was another level to creating art. I devoted myself to studying M.C. Escher, Alphonse Mucha, Norman Rockwell, and Dr. Suess.

After landing my first solo show at the Art Whino gallery in 2009, I have dedicated myself full-time to the creation of whimsical surrealism. I currently tour the comic convention circuit showcasing my work in Artist Alleys around Florida, and participate in gallery exhibits nationwide. I look forward to each experience creating and showing art, as well as meeting and communicating with collectors and appreciators from around the world.

I love when adults say my work makes them feel like kids again, and when children say my work makes them want to grow up to be artists. Bringing both ends of the spectrum together is my portal to the whimsical world. I've struggled with poor eyesight my whole life so as a child I was drawn to contrasting colors. They made images easier for me to decipher and I now use color combinations I've taken from personal experiences.

I've worked with nearly every artistic medium out there and continue to work with paint and ink, but colored pencils are where I feel most at home. It was my wife Rachel who suggested that I try them out on wood because framing under glass is so risky to ship. The basswood I use takes the pencil so well and even shows a tiny bit of grain through the finished pieces. I love the small textures that make each piece even more unique and I now prefer wood to all other substrates.

I hope you connect with my world of whimsy the way I do. I there is a particular piece you would like more information about, or would like to discuss commissioned work, feel free to message me and I will reply right away. God bless!

Welcome, and thank you for visiting my Etsy shop! I can't wait to send you some art. Purchasing is easy, and you do not need a PayPal account to pay for your items through PayPal. Your items are shipped after payment is cleared and you may even find some extra goodies in your package such as stickers, pin-backs, and other fun stuff.

If you have any trouble making payment, please contact me immediately and I will personally help you work it out.

All originals are wrapped up like fragile little babies and carefully packed for shipping. Prints are packed between two foam boards and/or cardboard to arrive perfectly flat and straight. Apparel is shipped in tear-proof packaging or cardboard boxes for larger items like hoodies and hats.

Normally your purchase will be shipped the same or next day unless I am out of town for an art show which is usually on the weekends. Any purchases made between Friday and Sunday will probably be shipped on Monday.

Please, please, please contact me with any questions. I am always glad to help!

Since originals can be fragile and are all one-of-a-kind I prefer them to take only one trip by mail, so please be ready to own the art forever when you purchase. I can provide as many photos and as much information as you need before you make your purchase. If you truly are unsatisfied with the art I will do what I can to make it right. If an item must be exchanged or returned, I do require that you pay all return fees and I will need you to ship the item back exactly as I shipped it to you , with all the same packaging materials, packed the same way as it arrived. A restocking fee may apply to cover new packing materials, relisting/advertising costs, or restoration of originals.
