About

Artist proceeds like the 'Little Engine That Could'

I have always, always loved making art.

It took me until the 1970s decide I'd do this for a living. It was then that I got my Master's in Textile Design, and set up a studio. Only 4 moves in all these years, but my studio is now in my childhood home, & I love it!

Over the years I have taken on almost any textile design challenge that has come my way. To pay the bills, you have to be open to any proposal, but the projects also have to hold interest for you. I have made a number of sets of 25 ft hand-painted silk banners, stuffed sandwich boards for business promotions, done wall-sized airbrushed and trapunto quilted hangings, and made many hand-dyed silk scarves , appliquéd garments and sewn drawing greeting cards.

At an art fair, a young boy came into my booth and asked how I could draw with a sewing machine. I gestured to him, to show him how I move my paper under the sewing machine needle, as the stationary needle sews the line. The next day, his parents came back, saying they had to meet the woman who did 'Extreme Sewing.' I love that!

In my Etsy shop, I try to offer things that I do that give you a glimpse of my larger body of work, are affordable, shippable, and are one-of-a-kind creations, made by yours truly - Linda Nelson Bryan

I make art, and plan to do it forever. Thanks to my family for allowing me this choice. My area of concentration is Textile Art, which currently takes the form of hand-dyed silk scarves, trapunto wall hangings and sewn greeting cards.

Life is too short, not to enjoy what you do! Every piece I undertake captures a moment in time, and that day's mindset.
One day I'm contemplative, the next day, down right goofy.
