Fun and simple cross stitch! I was disappointed the kit didn't include a hoop but, otherwise, great for a beginner.

About

What's behind the budgie?

My name is Lauren Rizzo, and budgiegoods is my 21st century needlework company.

In addition to several humans, one canine and a smattering of fish, my family includes a green and yellow parakeet (or budgie, as the Brits call them) called Clarence. Crazy little Clarence overflows with tuneful exuberance just about every waking moment, and tends to come a little bit unhinged when he gets excited – exactly how I feel every time I start a new project.

I have always loved the moment of running across something pretty or useful and thinking, “I can make that!” Whether it's crafted of paper, wood, fabric, yarn, paint, or just about any material that can be worked by hand, if I think I can make it, I'm hooked. And even though things almost never turn out exactly how I envision them, I get a wonderful sense of accomplishment every time I complete a project.

It’s that feeling I want to share with people.

I love that out there in the world, someone may right now be leaning over a little bundle of fabric in her lap that came from budgiegoods, taking a break to stretch and examine what she’s completed so far, and exclaiming with satisfaction, “Hey, I made that!"

Thanks for visiting. Enjoy!

I love to make things. Anything. Even when I don't love making something, I still love that I made it. Crazy but true.
