About

Nature...Art...Buffalo!

Most art is created by accident...at least that is what I learned studying art history. Just by experimenting with materials one can find a result that in itself can contribute to the uniqueness of a work of art.

I was experimenting with paints and then shapes when I discovered the image of a Buffalo Tree. Taking it a step further I created a series of seasonal trees in the shape of a Buffalo. Then it was just a matter of printing on different mediums such as mugs, coasters, clothes, etc.

Combining two things that mean a lot to me ...Buffalo and trees was inspiring in itself. I have found that many people appreciate these images and enjoy them which brings me further joy and motivation to continue to create and design.

I recently designed a new line of onesies and shirts, and travel mugs based on the 'Buffalo Plaid' design.

A short history of Buffalo Plaid:
Buffalo plaid originated from none other than Woolrich Woolen Mills. The company began producing the Buffalo Check shirt around 1850, which means we’ve been rocking this plaid for over 150 years. At its inception, the shirt was an instant hit with workers and outdoorsmen braving the elements and has been in the Woolrich line ever since. Legend has it that Woolrich’s designer of the distinctive style owned a herd of buffalo and that’s how it got its name.

Woolrich has a Buffalo Check shirt in its archives that is dated to around 1856. The wool found in that shirt is still being produced in the very same factory, which happens to be the oldest woolen mill in the country.

My background is in Graphic Design and Fine Art. I returned to Buffalo and have since developed a line of prints of Buffalo Trees. I enjoy the idea of looking at an image and finding more to it than what immediately meets the eye.
