Handmade Ecofriendly and Educational Felt Food Toys

In effort to rid my children's toy box of some of the mass-produced, junk, plastic toys, I decided to take matters into my own hands (literally) and create toys that are handmade, fun & safe - toys which foster the imagination, as well as teach good eating habits through play.

I try to use recycled and sustainable materials to make my toys, and ship in recycled packaging.

Welcome to Bug Bites! All felt food is handmade by me in my happy, smoke-free, pet free and GLUTEN free home. I take the greatest pride & care in my creations. I hope you will be satisfied by your shopping experience & enjoy hours of fun playing with your children & felt food! Please Contact (through Etsy) or email me with any questions or special requests with your order.

In effort to promote LESS GARBAGE, I am phasing out my usual packaging of a poly bag and paper tag, and am replacing them with handmade 100% Unbleached Cotton Muslin OR Tulle drawstring bags. Please consider this bag as my gift to you, and a special thank you for your support. I have also stopped including printed receipts in your purchase - as it is a LOT of paper rubbish, and you can print your own receipt if you want it!

My name is Rebecca, nice to meet you! I am the designer and creator of Bug Bites Play Food handmade felt food toys. I make and sell all my toys from my home studio in Orem, Utah. I have two delightful young children, who most often are either sitting on my lap while I sew, or playing at my feet under my desk.

• I use recycled Eco Felt for most of my toys.
• I have discontinued packaging your toys in plastic bags, and have switched to a beautiful handmade (by me) 100% cotton muslin bag.
• I cut down on paper waste by not sending an extra receipt with your package.
• I turn my lights off when I leave the room! ;)
• I support reusable household items by using cloth diapers, un-paper towels, cloth menstrual pads, cloth sandwich and snack bags (make your own here: http://bugbitesplayfood.blogspot.com/2010/08/gusseted-cloth-sandwich-snack-bag.html).
• I am a vegetarian and "near-vegan" and try to teach good eating habits through the toys that I sell.
I don't know - there are a lot of amazing felt food designers out there. But by supporting my shop, you are supporting a Work At Home Mother, whose only goal is to be able to make enough each year to keep my children out of daycare. I also take the greatest pride in my toys, making them as safe, fun and interactive as possible. I also never copy other artist's work - which sadly, is how many designers create their toys. I always try to look at design a little differently, and come up with original ways to create my play food. Most of the items in my shop are ORIGINALS, never seen before on Etsy or the web.

• If your items are made with Eco Felt, you may wash them in your washing machine on a gentle cycle in Cold water. I would lay flat to air dry, as this prevents "pilling" of the felt. If your felt does "pill up" a bit, you can use scissors to gently shear the bumps away.

• If your items are Wool/Rayon felt, please do NOT wash in the machine - as your items will "felt" and shrink! I don't think you want doll-house-sized food, so please spot wash gently with cold water, and VERY SPARINGLY. Try not to rub the wool felt with too much water, or it will felt.

I have a blog: http://bugbitesplayfood.blogspot.com that I regularly update with tutorials, new products, and about my life as a sewer of play food.

It's VERY important to me that you're happy with your purchase. Please let me know right away if you aren't satisfied with your items.

In case of problems with availability of felt colors, I may substitute other colors of felt on play food items without prior notice. However, if an item is drastically different from the one you ordered, & you are not satisfied - I will be happy to exchange the item, based on felt availability.

I accept returns on items that are damaged or defective upon receiving. I will accept a return within 7 days (postmarked within 7 days). You are responsible for shipping charges to return the item to me - I will not refund any shipping charges. Upon receipt of the returned item, I'll offer money refund, store credit or product exchange - your choice.

Please understand that felt may be torn if stretched (especially on items with strands such as banana peels, grapes or spaghetti etc...) & will not be replaced or refunded. Torn, stretched or ripped items caused from vigorous play will not be exchanged.
I accept PayPal.

With PayPal, Etsy's checkout process can be confusing. First, put the item into your cart, check PayPal, and check out. You need to login to your PayPal account to complete the transaction.
