I'm Bunny Chafowitz. My real name is Denise Chaffee. My father was Dr. Paul Chaffee, a former President of what is now called the Association of Zoos & Aquariums, and, of course, he essentially built the basis for what is now a world-class zoo, of which he was the Director for more than 30 years: the Roeding Park Zoo. The zoo's name was changed to Fresno Chaffee Zoo in his honor in 1990. When Rick & I were getting married, we joked about combining our names, rather than abandoning the Chaffee name. My mom thought we were serious, and sent her wedding gift to "Denise & Rick Chafowitz."

"Bunny" became the name Rick and my close friends call me because of a children's book. The book was called "Guess How Much I Love You?" Rick and I adapted it because of the title. Rick was always asking me that question. Although the story involved a boy bunny and his father, Rick started calling me "Little Nut Brown," "LNB," or "Little Bunny," and I called Rick "Big Nut Brown," or "BNB." But, to the rest of my friends, I became "Bunny."

I work full-time as a litigation paralegal, but I have a number of hobbies. I'm a Master Gardener, having graduated from the program at University of California, Davis. I enjoy time as Leader of my Pack of Papillions. I like reading mysteries and watching The Marvelous Ms. Maisel and similar television programs.
