Would have loved to give these earrings 5 stars, though the silver hoops are just a bit too delicate to really wear these earrings like I'd want. They easily get bent out of shape and I fear that after a few wearings, the hoop shape will be wonky looking. I also have to be super careful when wearing my hair down as one earring got caught in my hair and completely opened into a "C" shape, which was hard to get back to looking like a smooth hoop again. Dhoris was understanding and offered an exchange, but really I just wanted these earrings to work! They are so beautiful, it's a shame they're so fragile.
Minimal Simple Elegant...
For as long as I can remember, I've always been curious about how things are made and how things work. I used to take my toys apart and put them back together when I was little. I was never a girly girl, never cared too much for dolls or jewelry. And never would I imagined I'd be making jewelry!
How I fell into it was sort of a mistake. I opened my Etsy shop in 2005. Back then I crocheted and knitted all sorts of scarves, gloves and beanies until my little fingers couldn't take it anymore. So that didn't last long. I suddenly found myself getting into all sorts of other knick knacks which gave me that temporary satisfaction I crave when I create something. But that wasn't enough.
One day I found some old bangle bracelets in my drawer that I haven't used in awhile. I took one of them and a plier and proceeded to cut, bend and manipulate. 3 days later, with some beads and ear wires, I have10 pairs of earrings. My family and friends loved them and was willing to pay for a pair. It gave me that satisfaction I was craving and was the birth of my new found craft.
I have been making jewelry since 2009. I handcraft and design all my jewelry in my little apartment in Oakland, CA. I am a self taught metal smith and I give credit to all the books I've read and tips I've gotten from all my fellow jewelers, from blogs, message boards, teams and Etsy! I believe that being in a community environment is what helps us jewelers and crafters grow and flourish. I am grateful to have all the network and support.
My designs are minimal, simple and elegant. I make all my findings including ear wires, head pins and split rings. I will occasionally make chains as well. I love the process of metal smith. I love how you can take a piece of metal and turn it into a beautiful piece of jewelry. Seeing it from the raw material into a finished piece is amazing to me. You can't even imagine how it feels to see someone wearing it. It's indescribable!
