... and thank you for visiting.

Every marketbag for sale here is hand-knitted by me in a smoke-free environment and sold in aid of local charity; 100% of the profits are donated to Harmony House Women's Shelter here in Ottawa. I am a member of Etsy for Charity (EFC).

A note regarding allergies: There are no furry animals in our household, but there are two budgies allowed to roam at will. Please also note that while I wash all materials I might receive as donations, I can make no guarantees as to what they may have come into contact with.

I hope you have as much fun browsing as I have creating.

How to care for your hand-knitted or crocheted items

Wool and mohair and animal fibers can felt if they are washed in a washing machine, or washed with hot water. This is great, if that's what you intend to do. Not so great if you're washing a sweater that fits you perfectly and you end up with a small, thick sweater for a barbie doll. Wash GENTLY with lukewarm water, in a sink or tub rather than in the washing machine.

Use gentle soap like Eucalan or Soak or even a little shampoo. Use lukewarm or cool water, depending on the type of fiber (or if you have no idea what it's made out of).

Don't throw this into the clothing dryer. Get a large towel and carefully place your hand knit item onto it, then roll it up and press gently until mostly dry. Then you need to dry the item flat, or if it is a small or light object, you can hang it to dry. For lace items, you may even have to pin it into shape again, on a new dry towel. Other things, like a hat or purse, can be placed over a box or basket that will keep it in shape as its drying. If you are in doubt, just roll out as much water as you can with the towel, and then re-shape it onto another towel---this works for most things just fine.
