Obsession
This shop is proof that it only takes one class to become addicted to creating pottery!
Karen began her foray into crafts as a child with many projects in plastic canvas and cross-stitch. In high school, she worked part-time in a fabric store. While employed there, she learned to sew, including prom dresses, baby blankets, and home accessories. She also enjoyed drafting and architecture. Hence, she continued her education at Drexel University earning a BS in interior design. After graduation, her love of children drove her to earn a EdM and EdD of education and become a teacher. For a while, children's crafts kept her love of art alive. Then, she took a pottery class and never stopped throwing, eventually creating a studio in her barn. Making more pieces than she could give away, she began selling her wares for the pleasure of making more. Her work can be found in thousands of homes throughout the world and in many retail locations.
POTTERY CLASS In this class you will learn the techniques for wheel-thrown pottery.
Classes are held once a week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening for 8 weeks. Cost is $325 which includes instruction, throwing, glazing and firing. Students purchase 25 pounds of clay for an additional $15 as needed. Sessions begin each January, March, June, September and November.
PARTIES $35 adult or $28 per child includes a tour of the studio and throwing demonstration, as well as creation of one hand-built and one wheel-thrown piece by each guest. The party room is available free of charge. Pieces are picked up about three weeks later.
PRIVATE LESSONS Receive personalized guidance as you work on the pottery wheel. $65 per hour for the first person. $35 per person per hour for each additional person.
