We got the large polar bear and we love it. Nowhere else we could find a really large bear made of entirely organic materials!!! The communication was great and the bear was made & shipped promptly. Thank you Angela! 4 stars only, because the bear came out to be 22 inches instead of 24.

Organic, Sustainable & Handmade.

Little Barefoot Princess original designs are individually handmade. Classic style heirloom quality soft toys are re-imagined here with choice materials: GOTS Certified Organic Cotton, Hemp, Peace Silk and "The Fiber of the Gods," (fine Alpaca fleece).

Why Organic Cotton?
Cotton is one of the most chemical-intensive crops to grow. Chemicals in fertilizers and pesticides have negative effects on earth’s air, water, soil, and our health. The Environmental Protection Agency classifies these chemicals as the most toxic, destroying land and threatening our health with birth defects, reproductive disorders and weaker immune systems. The chemicals can also seep into the water supply and threaten the health of surrounding communities.

Research shows traces of pesticides remain in fibers. After it's picked, non-organic cotton is processed with even more toxins; including heavy metals, formaldehyde, azo dyes, benzidine, chlorine, silicone waxes, petroleum scours, flame and soil retardants, and ammonia. Think about traces of these chemicals remaining in clothes, bedding and soft toys. How could they affect a growing baby?

Growing cotton organically maintains soil fertility and reduces the use of toxic pesticides and fertilizers. Organic Cotton is certified by third-party organizations, who verify that methods and materials meet strict standards. Federal regulations prohibit the use of genetically engineered seed (No GMO's) for organic farming. Organic cotton is the environmentally and socially responsible choice for textiles.

Why Alpaca?
I fell in love with Alpacas after hand feeding them in Peru; where they've been domesticated for thousands of years. Fine Alpaca fleece, "The Fiber of The Gods," was once used to make clothing for royalty. Our fiber comes from a family owned farm where happy Alpacas are raised on over 400 acres of pesticide-free land and cared for as beloved pets:)

Alpaca fiber is gaining mainstream attention as an ethical eco friendly alternative. It is naturally flame resistant and is cleaned without chemical scouring. There are no synthetic fillers or flame-retardant-toxins applied.

Why Peace Silk?
Silk is naturally hypoallergenic; naturally resistant to dust mites and naturally fire retardant. Silk's Amino acids aid the human body's central nervous system and help to promote a sense of calmness. Peace Silk is awesome because it is unlike the 5,000 year old traditional method processing cocoons while moths are still inside cocoons. Peace silk is woven from threads harvested after the moths have emerged.

Why Low-Impact Fiber Reactive Dyes?
I use Low-Impact, Fiber-Reactive Dye, which bonds with the fabric at a molecular level and does not wash out. Low-Impact, Fiber-Reactive Dyes are preferred by many organic clothing manufacturers because there's a rainbow of vibrant color options, no heavy metals or other known toxic substances, and they meet all European Union criteria for being an eco-friendly pigment.

I welcome custom requests, wholesale orders and the challenge of creating new designs. Matching dresses and baby blankets are possible with any toy. Message me for wholesale and bulk discounts or to create your one of a kind gift.

I only use the finest materials for these soft toys; GOTS Certified Organic Cotton, Peace Silk, Hemp Silk Satin and fine Alpaca fleece. Because of the materials and the hand-made process, no two toys are identical. I hand-dye and handcraft every single piece one at a time to create a one-of-a-kind heirloom. See washing instructions at the bottom here. All dyes are Low Impact-Fiber Reactive, which bond with the fabric at a molecular level and do not come off. Additional policies and FAQs
*Soft Toy Washing Instructions

Alpaca and cotton stuffed toys will not perform like polyester fiberfill. We can’t throw them in the washer and dryer carelessly. They won’t bounce back like polyester fiber fill and eventually the stuffing will mat down. Special care is required.

Light Clean: Spot clean with a damp cloth & disinfect with direct sunshine.

Deep Clean: Locate cord at stuffing opening on toy’s underside. Release the stuffing opening and remove stuffing. Hand wash and air dry separately.
Place stuffing in a mesh bag, submerge in a bath of vinegar water and soak gently for thirty minutes. *Do not agitate or wring-out the stuffing. Drain water, air dry and fluff. Re-stuff and close stuffing opening.

*Blanket Washing Instructions

Hand wash and dry flat in the shade.

*Dragonflies, Butterflies, Mermaids & Fairies can be spot cleaned, hand-washed and air dried.

Heirloom toys are designed to be cherished for lifetimes. Ours cherish all life:)
