About ButterflyBunnyStudio

A little love and encouragement can change your world.

I am a Harford County, Maryland girl that has been transplanted to Columbia, Maryland! I was born in Havre De Grace & grew up in Whiteford, Edgewood/Joppatowne & Bel Air. Currently, I live in Columbia with my wonderful boyfriend, Jason & my lovey bunny, Princess Buttercup. (Friends of ButterflyBunnyStudio may remember my dear Peter Rabbit, she lived 11 happy bunny years. I soon found that I could not live without a cuddle bunny in my life & so I got Princess Buttercup was she was about 6 weeks old, she is 6 years old now)
I have a son, Joshua. On June 18, 2018, he turned 26! To me, he is one of the 7 great wonders of the world. He has made my life great. He opens my horizons to so many new & exciting things that I would never be brave enough to experience on my own!
I have wanted to have my own clothing design studio since I was about 7 years old. I started out hand sewing baby doll clothes and for my 8th christmas, my Daddy bought me a real metal, working Holly Hobby Sewing Machine & Ive never looked back since! lol In the end, my Daddy has bought me 3 wonderful sewing machines.
I have long been a Jane-of-many-trades. It was because of Josh that I started my first home business in 1992/93 because when Josh was around 6 months old, I realized that I could not really be happy unless I was able to stay at home with him. So, I began my home-based business journey! As a great lover of children, I started out as a home daycare provider/Nanny. As a child of a broken family, with a stepfather that was often abusive, my life long goal has been to add a positive influence to the life of any child I meet, even if it’s only a smile. As a home daycare provider/Nanny, my emphasis was on learning, art of all kinds & gardening for relaxation & contemplation. It is always a joy to be with children! They keep you young & they keep you on your toes, both physically and mentally! As Josh got older, our life situation changed & I transitioned from childcare to my other love, doll making & clothing design, which lead me to Etsy.
Friends of ButterflyBunnyStudio know that I have been absent for quite a while & may be wondering why. Well, it's a long story friends...
I can not express how happy I am to finally be re-opening my beloved ButterflyBunnyStudio, as well as, working towards my new BoutiqueGiana.Etsy & coming soon: a new blog calledThe Urban Duck.
I do not want to forget that this dream coming true is ONLY POSSIBLE because of the love, support and encouragement of my wonderful boyfriend, Jason. At a time when I had given up on ever being able to make any of this happen, he recognized how happy it would make me, encouraged me & pushed me to start again. He has graciously, with only teasing complaints, allowed me to fill nearly every room in his house with "girl stuff" & art supplies, not to mention my pink hair.lol The only art supply that is greatly discouraged (but not exactly outlawed) is glitter & anyone that knows glitter can empathize with his feelings there! lol. Also, I do not want to leave out the others that have made this re-opening possible; my dear friends, Jeni Standorf (who has been pushing, advising me and making sure that im on schedule to reach my goals), my son Josh (with his invaluable pep talks, advice & know-how), my father (who is no longer with us, but was always a great believer that I could make this happen and bought me the best sewing machine he could afford a few Christmases ago and said, "you can stop borrowing your mother's sewing machine now"&"You have talent, skill and good taste. You can do this!"),
my mother (a.k.a. Grandma Betty who has always urged me on) & my big brother (with his encouragement & ideas), finally, last but not least, my Princess Buttercup, who keeps me company and gives me bunny kisses while I write and waits patiently for me to come back and pet her again while I'm down the hall in my sewing studio for long hours at a time!
As a young girl my daddy nick named me, "me too". This is because as a 4 year old with an older brother and sister, I was constantly saying, "me too!", "don't forget me!"
In remembrance of my father and because you were kind enough, courteous enough and/or curious enough to read all of my story, I would like to offer you a coupon code good for 10% off your purchase of $10 or more. When you make a purchase, there will be a section asking if you have a coupon code, simply type "metoo"(all one word) in as your coupon code and you will receive 10% off.
Thank you for reading my story!
