Announcement   Hi I’m Faye, thanks for stopping by! I live in Bristol, UK in a house full of wool and crazy musical instruments, and I work on Simply Knitting and The Knitter magazines as Technical Editor. I am usually found knitting something, knocking up some kind of spicy feast in the kitchen, trying to improve my table-tennis skills or just hanging out drinking tea.

My mum taught me to knit when I was 5 – I have early memories of sitting with a skein around my wrists while she wound it into a ball. I tend to be quite faddy though when learning something new, and I got interested in other things until I was older. In my early twenties I found myself at a party, and one of the girls there had a bag of knitting. I thought it was so cool, I made her remind me there and then, and since that evening I’ve been hooked. I love the whole process of creating my own fabric and designs.

I’ve been blogging since 2008 about life, art, photography and things I have been making and designing. I trained in pattern cutting and dressmaking and originally set up my blog to document this. Later I found that these skills could be transferred to knitwear, and I could combine my love of knitting and design.

I’m currently working full time in Bath as Technical Editor for The Knitter magazine and Simply Knitting, and I also freelance for various designers. This is the ideal job for me as I love a puzzle and like to get my teeth stuck into something! I work with some of the most amazing and inspiring colleagues and designers and am influenced by something every day. Most of the patterns I have designed since working there have been published in the magazines, and I sell my self-published patterns through my website and this Etsy page.

Happy knitting!

Fabulous creation! I've been wearing these for a week now and they are toasty warm and also a topic of conversation from curious friends. Ca not recommend them highly enough. Communications with Faye were always prompt and friendly and she's made my cold fingers very happy this winter. thanks again.

I love the feeling of making something for somebody and playing a part in their excitement of having something new, that was put together just for them. I like the idea that something as simple as an item of clothing can make you feel really good about yourself. It can change your confidence, the way you stand and how you see yourself in the mirror.

Creating things for people to wear is exciting because it makes them feel special. It is a personal and indulgent thing to spend money on hand made clothing and I want people to feel like they are getting a treat. That's what gives me a buzz.

Buttons and Beeswax started for me as a hobby, but I know that isn't enough. It's what interests me, and if I have to do something to live then I want it to be that. To give people that feeling I just described. And if we have to spend most of hours working, why not spend it working on something we love?

Accepted payment methods

Payment
I accept paypal and cheque, mostly because they are easy! If you would like to pay any other way then feel free to contact me. I will try to make your item (if I don't have it listed as ready) within 10 days (unless its something big) and get it sent off within another two, unless requested early.
Shipping
I will ship royal mail 2nd class unless otherwise requested or extra payment is made. Larger items such as shirts and dresses cost a little more to send special delivery, and I will send that way if you prefer. Any questions feel free to contact me!
Refunds and Exchanges
Hopefully you won't want to return your item but if you aren't happy with it I'd rather you did and might re-return than you be upset about it! These things can usually all be sorted out.
