Hello!
My name is Jenny Jones, and I am the designer/creator behind Butt Uglee. My journey with Etsy began in 2007, and my style has morphed over the years. If you look at the Uglee's I have sold on Etsy or visit my website, you will see the range of characters I developed. I have loved everyone and had a hard time seeing them shipped off to their new homes. If I could, I would have kept every one of them.

In 2012 I went back to work full-time. While I was thrilled with my new job, it was a total bust for BuTT UgLee. I was gone 12 hours a day which left no time for creating. It is now August of 2022, and I have finally found a way to make the time and space needed for my "OriginaL UgLees."

Damn ... life is good!

The time issue was the easiest to resolve. I could only make this happen if I committed to working every weekday from 3 am-5 am before I headed off to work. There is no other way.

As far as space goes, it took at least a solid year or more to create the space that would be most effective. Weeks of purging and rearranging were needed to create a cozy spot on our 1st level laundry room/furnace area of the townhome.

UgLees need a lot of space!

UgLees also required a close water source, room for supplies, and, more importantly, a space where I could leave my mess out when I needed to step away. Finally, this was the only space that would work logistically. It's not perfect and a far cry from my last two studios, but I can make almost any space work if I put my mind to it. While it will never make it to the cover of a magazine by any stretch of the imagination. It works for me, and that is all that matters. It is the coldest room in the house; all my supplies and sewing machine are within arm's reach, and my washtub is four steps away. Since it is located right off the garage, I don't have to go up several flights of stairs when I need to drag in bags of supplies. What the heck! ...I can do laundry at the same time!
Can life get any better than this?
I think NOT!

I have spent most of 2022 getting back into the swing of things. My goal was to reopen my shop with all fresh new UgLees A solid block of time was needed to get my sewing machine back up to speed, build a large pool of eyeballs and start creating bodies. Lots of bodies! Then the painting began, and I couldn't put the brakes on. I was finally back in the flow, and it felt damn good. Before I knew it, I had over twenty fresh new UgLees ready for Etsy. This took months and months to achieve. Each UgLee takes anywhere from 12-36 hours to complete. This does not include the time it takes to photograph, videotape, edit and upload each UgLee to Etsy. I plan on adding a section to my BTTUgLee.com website showing more behind-the-scenes photos and videos. In the meantime, I am still trying to get the remainder of finished UgLees uploaded to Etsy, my website, and hopefully more social media.
