5 out of 5 starsThe download went fine. I was excited to see photos showing the directions that were small, but not too small. I have several cones of hemp yarn to use and this was a project that I hadn't really thought of, but will certainly use them up! Thank you!

I package your items with second hand paper/card packaging materials to keep them in reuse as much as possible. Reuse will always come before investing in new materials. If I run out of things to reuse, I will invest in a sustainable, recyclable, paper alternative. They are secured with biodegradable paper tape.
If you are ordering from outside of Europe Union then the post office will also put a plastic envelope on your packages. Unfortunately, I am unable to do anything about this.
I will always keep you up to date on when your item has been sent.
Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply. I'm not responsible for delays due to customs.

Frequently asked questions
Where does your hemp come from?
The hemp yarn that I stock and use is grown and spun in Romania. The producers use nature (rain water and wind) to ret the fibres and then again only use water to spin them into yarns. The water they use in this process is then filtered and reused.
Why do you recommend hemp yarn to make zero waste items?
For me, hemp is the ultimate fibre. It is superior to cotton and linen for a few reasons.
1. Hemp is a high yielding crop which means you get more fibre in the same amount of land than you would linen and cotton. Plus it needs a lot less water to grow, making it a less energy intensive plant.
2. Hemp fibres are longer than flax (linen) which makes the yarn stronger (reportedly 8 times stronger) which in turn means it has the longest shelf life of any natural fibre. So your sponges, dishcloths and soap savers will last longer than cotton or linen versions.
3. Hemp is naturally antibacterial and resistant to mould and rot. Your hemp sponges will never smell or go mouldy even without washing them.
How will my items be packaged?
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
I firstly wrap your items in repurposed paper and tie them with hemp yarn.
Included in your package will be a hand written note written on repurposed paper along with a byGoldenberry business card printed on FSC certified 100% post-consumer recycled uncoated paper.
The whole package is then wrapped for postage using repurposed paper/card materials and secured with paper tape.
Do you sell wholesale yarn?
Yes. You can find a wholesale section in my shop for hemp yarn where you can buy 1 kilo cones. If you are looking for a larger quantity please get in touch for prices.
Can I put my hemp items in the washing machine?
Yes! Your washing up sponges, soap savers and dishcloths can just go into your washing machine with your clothes or towels (max 30) however I never find it necessary. Please be aware that they may shrink slightly due to the fact that the hemp I sell is completely natural.
Can I sell items made using your crochet patterns?
Yes of course! However, I do ask that you do not use my photos unless I have given you permission to do so and please remember to credit byGoldenberry as the designer.
What inspires your crochet patterns?
Most of my designs come from things I need/want for myself or my home whilst trying to follow a low waste lifestyle. I create them for myself and then want to share them with you too :)
What countries do you ship to?
I ship worldwide and delivery charges are shown on each item with total delivery charges shown in your cart depending on how many items you have added and which country you are in.
Please note: There is a flat fee for tracked shipping to Canada and Australia of €19.00 for up to a kilo in weight.
