Welcome to the mother-daughter team of By Our Hands, Amelia and Natalie. Amelia is a mom and proprietress of the on-line fiber art supply business The Bellwether, and often spins and knits more than our family needs (grin!). Natalie loves to spin, color, paint, and play with clay -- and has come up with lovely yarns, gadgets, and accessories that overflow our family too. Together we bring you our abundant art!

Returns and exchanges
We do want you to be happy with your items. Hand-dyeing requires that you wash them in cold, untreated water; available acid dyes can react to water softeners, hair conditioner, or treated water. We have chlorine in our water here, and I notice that fresh tap water causes a little bleed of color from yarn, while day-old de-chlorinated water does not. So I was my yarns separately to keep colors to each skein, and would recommend that you do the same. A cold wash will also ensure minimal color bleeding should any occur due to your water's extra contents, if any.
Payment
Payment is via Paypal or Check/Money Order. We're willing to wait a little while for payment, but can only hold items for 2 weeks before they need to be relisted as unsold. Thanks!
Shipping
Shipping is first class mail in a waterproof envelope, in the US and Internationally. Includes delivery confirmation in the US.
Additional policies and FAQs
I am happy to spin requested fibers that are available in The Bellwether. My spinning fee is cost of fiber plus 10 cents a yard for 2-ply yarn; 6 cents a yard for singles yarn. Typically, 4 ounces of fiber spins into about 350-400 yards of fingering weight or 200-275 yards of DK to worsted weight yarn.
