Video summary: A brief look at some steps in creating one of a kind masks.

Paper-Mache products for theater, festivals, cosplay and more. I'm proud to have worked with local theater productions, circus troupes, and locals..

By the Creek Creations is an eco-minded paper mache studio that is the practical outcome of artistic needs; part recycling adventure, part creative challenge. I’ve had the pleasure of some of my very first creations were to help students in local productions create true stage magic. Since then, I’ve continued to add skills and accomplishments that are the rewards of accumulated years of dedicated practice and study in the art of paper mache. Whether it be for pure unleashed fun with a pinata at a themed party or more dramatic enterprises for both stage or top-notch Halloween costumes, I love it all!

As much as I love creating, it is a big downer knowing your actions are harming the environment. As an active member of our current culture, this is a daily if not hourly ache. So I do the best I can taking whatever small steps I am able to do right now, today. And then plan ahead with future purchases, daily habits, and setting aside time to do research. First- do no harm. Still working on that, we all are.

So that's what I mean by eco-minded. It’s on my mind with every choice. As I find better solutions, there are more decisions to be made with materials I already have on hand. Use the old plastic glitter myself as responsibly as I can or give it to someone else to use? Work through the gallons of standard acrylic paint or? These questions can get to be quite the dilemma but most of the time, simple economics dictate my answer for me; use up your current supply but purchase better materials the next time.

In summary, I’m moving from acrylic paints to milk based, polyester flowers to paper or wood, plastic glitter and rhinestones to glass, ceramic, or stone. It’s why I’ve added paper flower making, needle wool felting, and quilling to my list of skills to learn to enhance my creations with! The closer I come to having no negative impact, the happier I am creating things for you and your family to enjoy.

I have been blessed to be able to contribute pieces to local studios for their productions of Alice and Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, and Luna, help a circus troupe expand their storytelling repertoire, and spread some magic among local families and with the opening of this Etsy shop people around the world!

Thank you for taking a moment to get to know my little shop a bit. I hope you ponder what magical beasty I can help you make come to life.
