Announcement   Welcome to By Way of Salem! Holiday art for all seasons!

I'm Jeannine, owner and artist at By Way of Salem. My specialty is creating one-of-a-kind Christmas, Halloween & holiday art; an eclectic mix of whimsy and sweet.

Each item is created by me in my little art studio south of Nashville, Tennessee where I live with 2 horses, 5 dogs, 5 cats, and 1 patient hubby.

Many of my pieces have found homes in places all around the world! From Dubai and Qatar, to Brazil and New Zealand, and here at home in so many states. I am truly humbled and so appreciative. It's why I continue to create!

All items are created in a smoke-free environment, signed by the artist (me again!), packaged very carefully, and sent on their merry way to you.

Close to my heart: Selling my art enables me to donate a portion of my sales to help animals in need, something that gives me great joy. Check out my blog at www.bywayofsalem.blogspot.com to find out more.

I'm so very happy you're here! Come sit for a spell won't you?

About

By Way of Salem; Holiday Art for All Seasons!

Hi everyone, and welcome to my shop, By Way of Salem. My name is Jeannine and I’m the artist and owner. BWOS has been opened since 2009 and was started because of my love of Halloween, Fall, Christmas and well, all the seasons. After participating in lots of Fall and holiday craft shows throughout the year and having people ask me if I sell all year long, or have a shop, and discovering that most everyone loves Halloween and the holidays as much as I do, I decided to start selling online, and so I started my shop here on Etsy, and love it!

Though I'm really a "Halloween and Holiday" artist, I wander off…creating what I like and what comes from the heart; I love birds, flowers, animals, France, folk art village scenes, skiing, and all things winter (especially snowmen!), so you may see a wide variety of items in my store all year long. I create what I love. And each and every item I create is made lovingly by hand with hours and hours of work and detail. Nothing leaves my shop till it meets my discriminating eye and it's something that I myself would want to enjoy in my home or give as a gift.

What's in a name? In my logo, there’s the two old witches with the cart and the horse. Well, By Way of Salem just immediately came to mind! Just a couple of quirky gals, making their way across the countryside, picking up odds and ends of things they love and want to collect or maybe sell. I’m that! A quirky gal! And since I love Halloween, and I too have horses, it seemed like the perfect pairing!

Me: I've always been a painter. Since my first attempt in kindergarten with chalky tempera paint in milk cartons set up on the easels in the school yard, I knew it was something I’d always love. My fondest memories go back to those days, painting pumpkins with the bright orange paint and how they made me so happy. I’ve worked for many companies painting as well: full-size carousel horses, refinishing and painting various art from Mexico that is used in films, restaurants, and galleries, 24k gold statues created by Red Skelton depicting his much beloved “Hobo Joe” character, and David Kaplan Studios “Fiddler on the Roof”, as well as many other independent projects.

A couple years ago, we relocated from busy Seattle, WA to a quiet little country town south of Nashville where I live on 6 acres with my very patient hubby, 2 Arabian horses; Simba and N'Lilah, 1 Mustang horse, Baby, 5 dogs; Toby, Sam, Lucy, Bug and Sophie, AND 5 kitties; Fifi (Mom), Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty, Scaredy Kitty, and Smudgepot. Yes a full house and proud to say, all my dogs and cats and Mustang are rescues.

In my spare time, I love to work around the farm on DIY projects, ride my horses, kayak, garden, read, or just putter around.

Please stop in often as I’m always adding new items or changing things up. Feel free to send me a note or ask questions too – always enjoy chatting! I can create any item year round, or if you see something that's sold, I can recreate it for you as well. And please visit my other store – www.etsy.com/shop/salemscharms where you’ll find my metal stamped jewelry and other pretties that I dabble in.

Thank you for shopping with me! Warmest, Jeannine
