Julia - I cannot thank you enough for my amazing dresses! I was so excited to open the package today and try them all on. They all fit perfectly and are so beautiful, comfortable, and unique. I love each one so much and can't wait to wear them all the time. Each of the shirts has sentimental value and I'm happy to be able to wear them again since I really only wear dresses and skirts lately. Thank you a million times over!

About

Work? How about Patchwork!

This all started, like so many things that I love, with the Grateful Dead. I was always making things with my hands when I was growing up, and I was surrounded by Hippies and Bohemians, and the creative lifestyle. I discovered the Grateful Dead and that helped set a course for my life as I love to dance, travel, and create. I so admired the Deadheads selling their handmade goods on tour, including beautiful altered patchwork clothing. I thought it was so adventurous and the creations so unique. I began sewing a lot in 1998 making patchwork clothing, adding to my crochet work (learned years earlier from...an old Deadhead). Over the years I've travelled a lot selling my wares all over the country, and now I've been selling online for years as well. Etsy is an amazing opportunity.

Making patchwork is recycling. It has a long tradition of thrift and making-do. Typically people would use scrap or saved fabric pieces and sew them together to make patchwork fabric as a way to save resources in hard times. Over time patchwork became art as beautiful and complex designs evolved, for example in Thai tribal patchwork, Seminole Indian patchwork, Crazy Quilt patchwork, and classic American quilting patterns.
Patchwork is handmade and requires time to cut patches and to sew them all together, but the completed fabic is always a joy to see and leaves me with a feeling of accomplishment as I have re-created something new out of something old. I love the look of various patterns and colors coming together in unexpected ways. I love that patchwork is always one of a kind. Check out my store for altered jeans with side patches, top patches, & bell bottoms, as well as tops, dresses, loin cloths, headbands and arm warmers, all from recycled materials.

I appreciate your interest in my work!

Shipping
All ready made pants are shipped within 1-2 days. Custom work can take up to 3 weeks to complete and are sent Priority mail. Shipping is not refunded under any circumstances.
Refunds and Exchanges
Please read the full description, view photos and ask questions before buying! Measure yourself or your jeans first to compare for best fit. Do not rely on "size", which can vary greatly.
I DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS on ready made pants. I do offer to Exchange for ready made items or custom offers. Please contact me before returning any item to me. As the new selection is always changing, you'll need to choose from what comes available, or send in your jeans for custom work. In the case of an actual flaw, I will accept the return, returning your shipping as well. You pay to ship them back to me. You must first contact me with the specific flaw/reason for returning the jeans and get a confirmation and mutual agreement before returning. By purchasing my work, it is implicit that you agree to these terms.
I DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS on custom work for the following reasons: You will be sending in your own pants, providing your measurements, and choosing colors & overall style. Thus, you are primarily responsible for the direction of the design. Please be clear with measurements and style choices. There is some creative allowance made for my own artistic choices. You should look at my past work so you have some idea of what kind of style & energy I put into my work. With good communication, we can create something really great together! I have many, many happy customers to date!
Additional policies and FAQs
I generally do not offer discounts for multiple orders. For me, it still takes the same amount of time, work and materials for each item made. However, you can get signifigant shipping discounts by ordering several items at once. If you are a store interested in carrying my work, I'd be happy to discuss an arrangement. Please contact me directly here on Etsy.
