About

The Scent-Story of Life, Creating Memories One at a Time.

I was a devoted home-party candle connosieur. Then one day, my sister gave me a soy candle that I loved. The scent was better than the big-name company's candles, and I was hooked. I just had to know how to get more!

Well, several of my favorite scents were discontinued. What now? Answer: make my own. So, while I took a 3-year hiatus from my career as an ICU RN to raise my small kiddos, I began to experiment with making (large batches) of my own candles. Only, paraffin didn't make sense with small ones in the house, so soy wax is what I chose to work with. Viola! Wonderfully scented candles that are also better for my indoor air.

My son was a borderline-asthmatic as a young child, and soy candles did not affect his breathing! I soon moved on to natural linen/room sprays to cut down on more indoor chemicals. Later, I developed my hand-made shea butter lotions due to my daughter having some very dry skin.

I'm back at work full-time now. I work at a busy St Louis hospital and I work weekends, but I also make time to get out to about 1 or 2 local Indie-style festivals and craft fairs a year. My family members all have their own favorite scents. When I burn certain smells, I hear things like, "that reminds me of the cabin in Wisconsin", or "that smells like Myrtle Beach." (I always take candles & sprays on vacation, so my kids are remembering them!) Scent is so powerful, I just love making my home smell like, well, home. I hope you'll give my scents a try, too.

I started making soy candles after wanting cleaner indoor air, yet not finding items that I loved on the market. After much burning, testing, and finding I had about 100 extra candles sitting around, I decided to open Candle Kitty.

See below for scent list! ~

Welcome to Candle Kitty! I use soy wax in all my candles. Soy wax burns much cleaner than paraffin (a petroleum by-product) and supports American farmers as well. Burning soy candles helps to reduce in-home air pollution, there-by improving your health while making your house smell & feel like a home! I am always open to scent requests, so if you have an idea, just let me know! (Etsy convo, email, cell phone or on FaceBook! - all this info is on my business cards.)

**Please read my shipping policies.

Please be aware that my logo, name, labels, instructions, etc are the property of Candle Kitty. I sell to consumers, in end-user (consumer) units. My labels must be intact on the final product, and you may not remove them for any reason. Further, my candles are hand-made by me. You may not re-package or resell them. Candle Kitty candles and body scents are to be used only for individual private home use & enjoyment or private gifts only and are not for resale in any manner, commercial or otherwise. You may contact me to request a product be included in a local auction or fund-raiser. I give special consideration to schools and environmental groups in the local (Southern IL) area. Wholesale accounts are in a different category and this is not offered on Etsy, contact me directly for wholesale inquiries.

I am always experimenting and developing scents and colors! Below is a partial list of my current scents. You can request any scent without color (natural). And I'm always open to creating a scent or including a new one in my line, so if you have a great suggestion, I would love to hear it! Accepted payment methods

Payment
At this time, our methods of payment are: PayPal and direct check-out (with any credit card.) That should make you happy! My shop also accepts the new Etsy gift-cards. Love it!

IL customers: I must collect Illinois sales tax on your purchase as I am registered to do business in the state of IL. **Sales tax adds a little less than $4.00 to a $50 dollar purchase, and 78 cents to a $10 purchase, just so you know in advance! :)

For local sales on Etsy: I will refund your shipping through PayPal and schedule a pick-up or delivery. I meet people at Target in Shiloh or Edwardsville, or at a mutually convenient location (Madison county or Northern St Clair co)
Shipping
Shipping: This is important - I do not have a minimum purchase requirement, but you will make better use of your shipping dollars by buying in multiples. Candles need a box (because of size & for protection), so I use USPS flat-rate shipping boxes with enough padding to ensure safe delivery.

A Med. flat rate box can hold up to 4-6 items depending on your purchases and costs $11.50 (US only) to send. Small (3-pk sample) purchases of tealights will ship in a padded envelope, while 1 or 2 jar candles will ship in a smaller box and costs will vary, but be less than the USPS Med box. I cannot control shipping costs. They are what they are. For this reason, I can no longer sell to any locations outside the U.S. If you have previously purchased from me and are located in Canada, please convo me and we might be able to arrange something.

***I can ship up to 5 of my 4-oz tins or 2 of my clear dozen-tealight boxes in a USPS Small box. Please see the listing for current price. This is much better usage of your shipping dollars. yay!**

For local sales, please convo me to arrange pick-up or delivery and I will refund (through PayPal) all shipping charges applied on Etsy.
Refunds and Exchanges
I want all my customers to be happy with their Candle Kitty candles! If for some reason you are not, please contact me as soon as you can with your request. I do not generally accept exchanges, but will make an exception if you find you are allergic to a scent. You will be responsible for the return of the product, and it must be in original (re-sellable) condition or the exchange is null and void.

For loss or damage, take photos, convo me for the shipping ID# (if you need it) and contact the carrier. I insure most packages and will be happy to help you solve the problem if I can, but I am not able to "fix" completely crushed and mis-handled boxes. Those will go to claims. I'll provide replacement in the claim cases.
Additional policies and FAQs
Soy candles are fragile when exposed to temperature extremes, especially hot summer temps or cold (freezing) winter temps. Please be aware that I may need to carefully time your shipment, depending on where you live or the weather here in IL. I'll let you know what I can send as soon as possible, and I'll contact you to let you know when to expect your candles.

For local sales, if you would like to smell or sample some of my candles & scents, please email or call to make an appointment. I will be happy to meet you and let you sniff!

For custom orders, please be as clear as you can about what you want, i.e. color of wax, scent, unusual container, how many tables you are decorating, etc. The more lead-time you can give me, the better, as I may be able to make a prototype and get that to you for your approval in advance.

If you like your Candle Kitty items, please leave some feedback. I would really appreciate it!
