I started Canvasbutterfly in November 2012.
For many years I had been looking for beautiful life like pictures of butterflies to hang on my walls. There was never anything which appealed; it was either mass produced or not original or authentic.
My husband encouraged me to take up painting again. Inspired by nature and my own love for the lepidoptera species I spent the Summer of 2012 drawing and painting butterflies.
I attended Salisbury College of Art many years ago. I had not chosen to take up a career in art in my early twenties as I was still deciding which area I would like to focus on when I met my soon to be husband! Fast forward five years and we had had our first son, another six years passed and our second son and daughter were now part of our family. As my family have now grown up and have careers of their own I have been able to put more time and passion into my artwork. I have rekindled my love for drawing and painting over the last few years out of which Canvasbutterfly has evolved.
Since conception I have added bees, dragonflies,moths and more recently seahorses,hares and hummingbirds to the new 'Creature Doodles' series. The 'Canvasbutterfly Collection' is just that, a collection of my artwork, both based in reality (as I depict the insects as close to nature as my ability allows) and with more artistic licence in other compositions. I create with a passion for what I do and hope that follows through in my finished work.
I like meeting people and love going to market, usually The Bath Artisan Market but also The Bristol Festival of Nature and the Frome (Artisan) Super Market. The feedback is always very encouraging and enthusing, I am very happy that people love what I do as I love creating it.
Joining Etsy in late May 2013 gave me the opportunity of having my own shop and reaching customers from around the world. I appreciate this platform every day as I want my art to reach many people and put a smile on their faces.
As new designs are produced I shall introduce them into the Canvasbutterfly range.

I care passionately for our wildlife heritage and want to encourage as many as possible to grow a bit of wild in their space and keep these beautiful creatures for posterity. We really can not do without the butterflies & bees. To that aim I am was very proud to say that in 2014/15/16 Butterfly Conservation UK was selling many of my prints and cards on their own online shop. Helping to raise money for conservation is close to my heart!
