Bold & Strong: The Story of Cardinal and Fig:

I grew up with the beauty of nature all around me. My home was in the Huron National Forest, and its beauty inspires me to this day. The deep red of a Cardinal balancing on a jack pine branch, deep green ferns growing on the forest bed, and hardy plants surviving each vicious Michigan winter only to emerge stronger in the spring. This is also my story; I am bright and bold like a Cardinal, and hardy, a survivor, like a fig tree. My appreciation for nature is who I am, and through my designs, it will be shared with you.

I create my jewelry using gemstone, metal, and Czech glass bead elements, incorporating what is fashionable and beautiful, with my inspirations, which tend to be nebulous in nature. Cardinal and Fig pieces are thoughtfully crafted with high quality materials and craftsmanship, and are made to last. My designs are deeply guided by my intuition and sense of beauty inspired by the world around me; my pieces have a bit of my spirit and soul within them. Each piece of adornment listed was crafted with care, and guided by my intention, and was created with specific intentions and healing thoughts in mind that will be passed on to the new wearer. I design for the free-spirited, nature loving folks, who are looking for specially handcrafted bohemian jewels to spice up their wardrobe, and add a bit of intention to their everyday lives.

Greetings, welcome to Cardinal and Fig! I appreciate your browsing and your business! I hand make each piece of jewelry that is listed in my shop, and I genuinely hope you find something you love! Every piece of my jewelry is a labor of love!

My pieces are inspired mostly by the natural world, and take what is fashionable then turning it into a timeless design that will always be stylish. That inspiration combination results in some amazing jewelry pieces! I use the finest quality materials and crafting techniques to lovingly create each piece listed. I am deeply guided by my intuition when creating, and am frequently inspired by numerous crafting techniques, which results in the eclectic bohemian feel of my pieces. I always welcome custom and bespoke pieces, so don't hesitate to inquire!

I like to be kind to the earth so I reuse or up-cycle vintage materials that I have acquired, namely beads and chain. I also frequently use gemstones and semi-precious stones, and I'm currently delving into using more luxurious materials. Regardless of materials, I never recommend getting jewelry wet or exposing it to chemicals or hard knocks; I am not liable for any damage inflicted upon my pieces from mishandling, but if any issues ever arise, I'd be happy to discussing how to repair damage from mishandling, and even offer repair services for all my jewelry.

I offer jewelry care advice, so if you ever have any questions please feel free to contact me!

Returns and exchange details
-It is my store policy to not refund in the instance of buyers remorse or change of mind. As a buyer it is your responsibility to read all listings carefully, to double check product dimensions, and to purchase with certainty. However, I will adjust the item if you would like, just send me a conversation and we will discuss how I can alter the item; shipping is the responsibility of the buyer though. I want you to be happy with what you order so I will do everything I can to work with you and see the situation resolved.

-Cardinal and Fig does not accept returns on international orders due to the high likelihood of them getting lost in return transit to me, as well as the high shipping cost.

-If on the rare instance the item is defective, please send me photos and we'll work on getting the item back to me. Defective, damaged, or wrong items sent are the only instances where refunds will be granted, but I must be notified of these issues before the item is sent back to me. If the item arrives damaged, photos must be sent to me within 5 days in order to file a claim with the shipping provider. In the highly unlikely event that the wrong item was received, please notify me immediately and we will discuss return shipping as well as mailing out the correct item (this will NEVER happen but I need to state this for liability purposes).

-If on the rare instance that the item is damaged during transportation, please send me photos so we can discuss your options going forward. For this instance refunds, exchanges, repairs, or store credit can be offered. USPS is usually pretty good about handling packages, especially those with a FRAGILE stamp on them.

-Due to hygienic reasons I absolutely cannot accept earrings for a return or exchange, even if defective, so please, shop carefully! If defective, a refund would be granted or a new item sent out; the defective item could be thrown out or kept by the buyer, it is your choice.

-If fully unsatisfied with the product, but it does not meet refund criteria, exchanges can be made of equal value , please contact me for more information before sending the item back to me so the exchange can be approved. Unapproved exchanges will be returned to sender.
I accept payments through Paypal (an account is not necessary for purchase), and directly through the customers own credit or debit card through Direct Checkout (no personal information is EVER shared with me or any other sellers on Etsy).

Coupons, if available, are listed in the shop announcement, and are usually found on my social media platforms. Coupons can not be applied retroactively to an order for a refund of the difference; they can only be used at checkout before confirming and finalizing the purchase.

All purchases final.
I ship nationally and internationally. It is the buyers responsibility to request international tracking mail services, without that request most items will be sent out with standard mail. In the instance that insurance and tracking has been purchased by the buyer and the package gets lost in transportation, a refund will be made minus the shipping charges or store credit could be issued at the buyers discretion.

US packages ship via USPS First Class with tracking in recycled shipping materials in order to be eco-friendly. Faster services can be requested and paid for at the buyers discretion, such as Priority Mail and Express. If insurance is requested, I suggest selecting USPS Priority Mail at checkout meaning that your order will arrive in a small box that includes up to $50 worth of insurance. Should more insurance coverage be needed or requested please contact me so I can arrange it and provide an accurate and updated shipping quote.

All packages will ship with recycled materials so as to be as kind to the environment as possible. I do not include a receipt of purchase unless it is requested for the same reason: sustainability.

When shipping internationally the buyer assumes all responsibility for customs charges and fees. I will also always claim that the value of the item is the purchase price: I'm sorry but it is not wise, legal, or ethical for sellers to fib on the value of items to create cheaper shipping or fees. I also do not accept returns on international orders due to the high likelihood of them getting lost in transit during the return process, as well as the high shipping cost.

Lastly, if you don't see your country listed, please shoot me a message and I'll see what we can do!
Additional policies and FAQs
Any repairs that need to be made will be free of charge within 90 days of purchase, but return shipping to me is once again the responsibility of the buyer. If repair is necessary after the 90 day period a small repair fee ($10-$30 depending on materials used) will be charged. Please contact me if you have any questions about this. Also, please be gentle with your jewelry and do not manipulate stones or wire because that can cause damage; I want your jewelry to be beautiful for as along as possible!

Oxidation of materials is generally a natural occurrence; sterling silver will darken, copper will darken and gain a greenish patina, and bronze and brass elements will also darken with time and may develop patina or verdigris. Body chemistry generally impacts how quickly jewelry will oxidize. If you have any issues regarding oxidation please contact me and depending on the materials (sterling silver, copper, brass) I should be able to help you in cleaning it, if not I can help identify resources for professional cleaning if warranted. I do not accept returns or exchanges due to natural oxidation processes, nor do I accept returns in general. Oxidation is natural and is generally very beautiful and brings out details of a piece, but I understand it is an acquired taste that will take time to get used to.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders

I welcome bespoke pieces! Please message me with what you have in mind and we can work together to create something beautiful!

How long will it take to ship?

Each listing has the current shipping time, but usually I ship next business day (Monday-Friday 8am-5pm). If there are significant delays I will always contact you. Please note that parcels can not be mailed out on Federal holidays when the post offices are closed; this is out of my control, but your order will be shipped as promptly as possible after the holiday.

Will my package be insured?

Insurance will be purchased at the request of the buyer, and will need to be arranged preferably before purchase. I recommend insurance for expensive orders, if your neighborhood has an issue with missing or stolen packages, or if your item is going overseas.

Please contact me for wholesale availability for my items! Please keep in mind that my pieces are usually one of a kind. My business email is cardinalandfig[@]
