Top shop for gifts.

Announcement    I am drawn to both traditional and contemporary techniques in jewelry making. I love to experiment and push the boundaries of the material. In my most recent work I have been experimenting with texturing the surface of metal. Techniques include fusing, etching, stamping, roller printing and applying gold to surface using keum boo.

There are many things in my life that inspire and motivate me. Nature stirs my imagination. I am both a collector of natural artifacts and an observer of the natural world, I seek to explore the beauty and delicacy of nature, translating the delicate patterns I see into the work I create.

From Northern Ireland to Santa Fe, New Mexico

Born outside of Belfast, Northern Ireland, Carla Pennie grew up experiencing both the majestic beauty and social challenges of a country experiencing dramatic change. After spending the majority of her life in Northern Ireland, Carla decided to work and travel in continental europe and United States. She participated in a number of work study programs which lead to new opportunities in teaching and museum collection management. She returned to the U.K. in 2001, completing an MA in gallery studies from the University of Essex, in England.
In 2002, Carla Pennie set up home and studio in Santa Fe, New Mexico and now exhibits her work in galleries in both Ireland and the U.S. Her work has been the subject of publications, blogs and periodicals. In 2010, she was invited to participate in “The Plastics Show” at the Velvet da Vinci Gallery in San Fransico.
